Just want to say good luck to all of you out there who are starting your season off tonight. I know we'll be utilizing things (and have been) that were learned from several of you from coachhuey. Best of luck coaches! I'm sure your teams are well prepared.

We won our JV game 29-6. Got off to a really really slow start and put ourselves in bad position with mental errors the first half. Fixed them at halftime and then blew the game wide open in the 3rd quarter. Hit a 44 yard TD strike on the second play of the half.
I have never seen an opponent so dejected so fast. They thought they had us and then they didn't anymore.
Thanks to all the Huey guys who have thrown ideas around all offseason. I still have a few things we have been working on that I haven't called in the game yet. Maybe in week 2.

How can you put yourself in a bad position when your opponent only scores 6 points? 6-0 with 2 mins to go in a game isn't even considered a BAD position. Down 21-0 after Q1 is a bad position.

How can you put yourself in a bad position when your opponent only scores 6 points? 6-0 with 2 mins to go in a game isn't even considered a BAD position. Down 21-0 after Q1 is a bad position. We fumbled the ball on their 10 yard line. Force them to go 3 and out. Next possession throw an interception on our own end of the field which allowed them to put 6 points on the board. Went into the locker room at halftime tied 6-6. They had 180 yards passing (way too much), and -46 rushing against our defense. I'm not trying to sound like a d!ck, but that isn't the kind of football that we expect out of our kids (the slow starts and getting chewed up through the air). With that said, it was a very nice win against a quality team and we were able to go into film and teach them without being hungover from a week 1 loss.
