Numbers have been on a slight decline in our area for a couple years, but this year they seem to be way down. We have 31 on varsity and 24 on JV in a school of 1400. Nearby I've heard of bigger schools having as few as 17 on their Varsity. This is in suburban Maryland. Seeing any of this in your areas?

North-central CA. We have 29 on varsity, 32 on JV, school of 650. We had a scrimmage last Saturday and one of the teams could not field a varsity team, JV had 25. They were in the playoffs last year. Another private school dropped football this year, smaller private. A larger school, 2100, dropped football all together. Our youth teams are all less than 18 players.

Some teams in our area are hurting with around 20 players 9-12. We are also seeing a decline in population across our football district so that is contributing. We have 45 players 9-12 at a 2A school (second smallest of 6 classes now) think our state enrollment number was 146 boys 9-11.

School of approximately 600 and we have 39 players for freshmen through varsity. Unfortunately, it's a little senior heavy so our underclass teams are hurting. We have had to cancel our freshmen season and our JV season is down to 6 games currently with the possibility of a 7th being rescheduled.

We have around 60 9-12 in a school with about 225 boys. We have a big freshmen class of 22. Last year we were in the forties due to transfers and academics.

Pretty similar in our area too. We have around 40 in a school of 300. I know some schools in our conference with 500+ enrollment with only 35 kids out 9-12th.

Smallest class in our state. We've had some success so we have OK numbers but a number of teams in our conference have less than 20 on their rosters. From what was one of the best small school conferences in the state we have dipped significantly.

Our numbers are down here. We're a school of almost 700 and we're under 40 after some injuries/defections. We started last season at 54 and wound up at 36 anyway, so we just got there a lot quicker this year. There's some bad stuff going on inside the building that doesn't help things, but I don't go out in the halls and walk past a bunch of kids that would help us. We recruit non-football guys and good athletes but there just aren't many. The ones that are have no ethic, don't want to put in the time, etc. It's not that they couldn't be a good player. Some of the programs in our area are going through similar things. A few of the solid programs are seeing some higher numbers than average, but it's due to recent success. Some programs are at such a point their programs could easily fold. Very unfortunate. Can't say exactly why but football is hard and we've got a lot of kids who don't want to work hard to make it happen and that's why they don't play.

Ours were down the last couple years. But this year way up. Last year a school of almost 1100 less than 70 kids total. This year 65 JV and 48 varsity.

Some in our area are hurting and having to eliminate freshman or JV ball to field a varsity team, and these are at decent size schools but they lack success.
Our numbers (except for this 9th grade class) have never been bigger. The 7th and 8th grade classes will be large so we will be back to normal.

We have 31 on the team and 75 boys in the school... anything over 30 for us is very good.
