I cannot for the life of me find the email or message on here that a fellow Coach sent me about 6 months back but I wanted to tell whichever one of you that was, Thank You!
You gave me the idea to put a digital media type guide/program together and it turned out to be a great success for our program. Which is a program with next to no money. Both from a fundraising standpoint and getting the kids and community excited and involved. I put the link below for you to check it out, we'll up date this week to week and will include new information such as district standings, district scores, game write ups, and team leaders in stats for both us and our opposition. It took quite a bit of work design wise but now that it's finished I wouldn't trade it for anything. Best part is now I have a template so it cuts down the time drastically.
Again, thank you to whatever Coach on here that was.

wonderful idea and presentation, coach.
1. what is the return on fundraising / sponsorship as compared to what you were doing with print (I imagine the printing was done through the same outlet used for school newspaper)?
2. how do you "sell" these / profit? With physical programs it would be something tangible in your hands on gameday for purchase. How is this delivered to consumers to provide sponsors a viable marketing outlet?

With physical programs it would be something tangible in your hands on gameday for purchase. How is this delivered to consumers to provide sponsors a viable marketing outlet? Very good questions.... 1. We do not have the luxury of having a media club or anything like that at school. I'm lucky enough to have a sister in law who runs her own graphic design business. We were responsible for getting all the stuff to her, and she ran with it from there. Our NET this year, and keep in mind this was the first year of doing this, was over 3k. We paid her $800 for the design of the guide, and will continue to pay her $100 a week to update it with new content as we face new opponents each week. I've delegated certain areas to each coaching staff member to have to her by Midnight on Tuesday evening. That allows her time to get it put together for the current week. Printing costs alone on the hard copied ones from years past were nearly $300-$500 depending on how many were ordered. We found that only a select few were ever bought, and we ended up having to give the rest away. All said and done, it'll cost us $1700 for her work. 2. One she had one designed, we went around to businesses and showed them the idea, it sold itself to be honest with you. We offered 4 different sizes for businesses to purchase and they had the choice of just their logo, or if they wanted to create an actual ad we would put that in there for them instead. The range of advertisements price wise was $50, on up to 1k for a full page. Any of the businesses that bought into the $200 level and above, we hyperlinked their websites to their logos. So for Casey's, which is a gas station chain in Iowa but also is known to have the best pizza in the state, we hyperlinked their website allowing people to go on and order a pizza during the 4th quarter to be picked up on their way home. We aren't selling these guides, not this year anyways. We really want to focus on getting as many eyes on them as possible. We'll then use that to go back to the businesses and I can show them exactly how many views the guide got on a daily basis, as well as how many clicks their business got from our guide. We opened it up last Friday and had over 1k views, I was expected no more than 2-300 to be honest. And that was the day of our first scrimmage, this Friday should be even larger. Here's a couple things that we did to increase the number of views. We had a team poster made, took a picture of the kids sitting on a tank at the military base we did our team camp at. On that team poster, we included a QR Code. For those non tech savy guys, a QR Code is simply a bar code. But with phones these days, there's free apps that allow you to download a QR Scanner for free. So we put the bar code on the team poster, and anyone that sees the team poster can scan that barcode with their phones and it automatically pulls up the Media Guide on their phones. Another thing that we've done is we've sent the link out in the school communicator that goes out to all parents once a week. Lastly, the high school still prints hard copied paper rosters of each team that are handed out at the gate, I've gotten the QR code put on that as well, so everyone that walks in and gets a roster sheet also has access to view it. Unless they don't have a smart phone. Lastly, Just like at every other school, the athletic director sends the opposing teams AD an email with directions on bus parking, locker room situation etc etc. I've asked that he include it in that email to the opposing AD, it will include team stat leaders, rosters, district standings etc for the opposing team as well. And who knows, maybe they'll want a pizza for the ride home....

thanks, coach.
one follow-up question...can you ship me one of them Casey pizzas? If not, I'll settle for HyVee (former Iowan)
In all seriousness, helluva offering and much better for businesses than the old school program. Way to go.
So, how do football fans get access to the media guide? Via email distribution group or can they download at the game? How do people that just show up to your game with no affiliation to the school see this?

Sorry for the necro bump, but how would you host something like this digital media guide? In a dropbox or google drive? On a website?

And what software did you use to create the digital media guide?
