Whitewater fed MHB their lunch in their October meeting, and it hasn't gotten any warmer since. Should be a rematch of the past 2 years in the D3 National Championship with Mount Union laying the screws to Whitewater again.

So i was completely wrong in saying whitewater was going to get killed. Who watched this game? What'd you think? We lost to whitewater by 7 this year after having an 18 point lead on them in late in the 3rd quarter. Kinda hurts knowing we aren't that far away from being where they were. Mount Union acted like they didn't even have to show up to win the game. What a day by Beaver.

Yash -
I watched as much as I could of the game - had a lot of snow that I had to take care of.
The running back, Beaver, what a stud he was. The other running back from Mount Union was not too bad either, but today, Beaver was big.

beaver had 170 against us in 3 quarters this year. He has put up over 200 the last 2 years against us. We broke his collar bone last year, but it was a little late in the game and didn't matter. Plus he was ready to beat us again in the playoffs. Not gonna lie, its good to see him graduate.

Crazy game by Beaver. I can see why he won the Gagliardi Trophy. Did it bother anybody else how they kept pronouncing Gagliardi wrong? Or was I just hearing it wrong?

I go to UWW,and let me say that the game yesterday was the greatest game ever. Next to coming back and beating LaCrosse this year. Beaver is amn among boys. He is a stud, and unfortunately (fortunately for yash) he is graduating. However we have plenty of young QB's waiting in thw wings to play like the freshman who subbed for him in Lacrosse. Also Yash thanks for saying we were going to get killed that got around to the team that UWL thought was going to happen. Thanks for the motivation GO HAWKS POUND THE ROCK.

Well glad I could provide a little motivation for ya. I won't be with the team next year but whitewater beating Mount Union makes it feel a little better knowing that Mount Union isn't the New England Patriots of D3.

Please don't compare the purest form of athletics with those cheaters in New England there records are as taintd as Barry Bonds.

It wasn't meant to be a negative comparison. One, I'm not getting into an arguing match about the patriots. Two I was just stating that its nice to know that Mount Union is beatable, as they have looked unbeatable in the past, especially looking at their results before the d3 game.

mount union moved the ball but they could not seal the deal and get tds. UWW defense was really a bend but do not break. one thing they did do was hit the qb and MU admitted they did not like getting their qb hit much.
it seems to happen a lot but when a dominate team starts to get down and the potential to lose starts to creep in to the minds of the coaches and players it is like a meltdown happens. For MU it was the young coach who ran out on to the field and basically assaulted the ref verbally. maybe in the ohio conference that type of behavior is tolerated. however in the wiac, the officials would have toss him out of the game for that type of behavior. it was at the time i know you could stick a fork in MU cause they were well done.

I think that Whitewater was better prepared for a close game because of the conference they play in and the playoff games they played. No one had been within 50 points of Mount union all year so when they actually had to play 4 quarters they couldn't get it done. I admit that I was completely wrong about the outcome of this game. I really thought Mount Union would dominate. Obviously I was wrong. Just shows you that no matter the stats, you gotta play the game. Mount Union looked as if they were expecting to walk all over UWW and when it didn't happen they weren't sure what to do.

i think what helped whitewater was senior leadership. 23 seniors were on the whitewater roster and they contributed.
i also think since they had faced them two times before they sort of were comfortable with them.
I also think whitewater has gone to playing a national nonconfrence schedule which helps. they are no longer playing small d3 state schools which are not in the wiac.
if you look at the ncaa stats the wiac had 3 of the top 6 individual rushers in the nation. a very physical league. I personally think UW EC would have beaten bethel had they had their starting qb. bethel barely beat them. uw eau claire in one week took a wr and made him their qb, running the zone option attack. he was knocked out of the game and they went to the single wing with a rb being the qb.
there is also no way Mount Union would score 54 points week in and out in the wiac. just not going to happen. Mike emendorfer who had high flying passing attacks at hanover and some playoff success gets beat up big time in the wiac.

Crazy thing about UWEC was that their starting QB was their starting punter at the beginning of the year. Their top 2 QBs got hurt leaving them with a true frosh. Well he wasn't doing very well so they took the punter, who had played QB in high school and put him in the spread and let him chuck it around. He was nothing special but he was better than the frosh trying to run an I formation offense. He threw 4 picks against St. Norberts so I don't know if they would have beat Bethel. Whitewater still played Lakeland this year so they don't play all national non conference games. And to be honest, one of the reasons they play national non conference games is because no one in the surrounding area will play WIAC teams for non conference. We played Azuza Pacific this year and Hardin Simmons from California and Texas because we can't get a non conference game around here. Although it really does help playing good non conference teams rather than beating up on some less quality team.

I watched the bethel game. had the blocked punt been recovered in the endzone it would have changed the game completely. the uwec defense dominated bethel until they like all defense who are on the field to long, got tired and bethel was able to score in the last 4 minutes of the game.
