Hey guys we have matte navy helmets. When we recondition or buy new ones they look more matte (no shine) compared to helmets that are a year or two old .
Any of you out there have matte helmets? If so any tips for keeping them looking matte? How do the NCAA teams do it?

we did them for like 3 years HC missed shiny black so we went back to it last year
i prefer the matte
there was a little bit more chipping on the crown then regular paint but not too bad theyd get repainted as part of conditioning every year and they call came out looking the same
it was actually a few bucks cheaper per helmet for us to get them done in matte black rather than shiny black

It's not much more at all. We only recon every 3-5 I think that's what the rep tells us. If we had yearly recon that would be great.

The matte look comes from the rough (at the micro level) surface, but daily wear erodes this texture and gives them more shine, so unfortunately there's not much to be done.

We have matte helmets. We get reconditioned every year so maybe this just doesn't pertain to me, but what are y'all talking about? Lol

They lose some of the matte texture become more of like an eggshell lustre.
