Would you wear cleats at practice?
Why or Why Not?

I don't because I never saw a reason to. I'm not playing.

Put me in coach, I've got a couple of plays left in me I do it some if the weather sucks and because I have found them cheap...like $14.99. I also demo a few drills & think I'm a badass! Also during 4-man workouts and the summer if one of our better kids don't have a real challenge I'd actually work reach-the-reacher or 1-on-1 pass pro / pass rush with them. Usually those guys hand me my ass, but sometimes I'm the best competition they'd see that day. I equate as similar to being a drill partner when wrestling with the heavyweight.

I don't because I have extra old shoes around to wear on the field, don't really want to spend the money just for cleats for practice. If I had them, I'd wear them though.

I don't have any. I have some indoor soccer shoes and golf shoes I may wear, but not really planning on it either.

I do and will continue to do so until I'm to fragile to demo drills and technique. I'm pretty active in practice

i dont but a few coaches on our staff do ... i just personally dont need them to demonstrate anything i am doing OL wise our DL and LB coach wear them i think so they feel like they are ready to go in and hit someone... they demonstrate with walk throughs and definitely dont need the cleats but they like to feel like they can do hit someone still our WR coach has cleats on more often than not he isnt the most athletic guy, we have plenty of kids faster but he is a phenomenal route runner and his grown man strength makes him harder than a HS kid to press and cover his demonstrations offensively are good, but where he is most valuable is actually when we practice defense... he becomes a great scout team look for our DBs to cover him and a better challenge than most of our kids ... we have 1 D1 Corner, and another who will probably end up FCS so getting them good looks to go against is nice to keep challenging them our QB coach also wears cleats sometimes

I wear them for two reasons. With all the standing I find the flatter shoe makes my back feel better, and I get stuck running a couple reps of scout per week.

I did one practice last year because I didn't have shoes for the mud. It was a great idea. I actually coach in them if it rains and we are not on the game field.

I wore the old ripple-soled Coaching Shoes for about 25 years.
Every August it'd take me about a week to get used to them.
One year I DIDN'T get used to them and still had low back pain, had to see my doctor.
Bottom line, since then I wore Cross Trainers (New Balance best for the money) to practice and Nike coaching or training shoes to games.
Plus I learned many moons ago not to demonstrate anything.

I don't wear cleats or sneakers at practice; I wear hiking shoes. Hiking shoes give me better support, keep moisture and rain out, and last longer. If I buy a new pair at the start of the season, I can wear them all football season, all winter, all lacrosse season, and still get some miles out of them in the summer. One of the smartest decisions I've made. Now on game night I wear black Nike's. I don't know what style. One of the other assistants goes to the local Nike dealer a decides what shoe to get(we get a great deal from the local Nike dealer).

If it's a swamp during practice, I'll go cleats just to save my regular shoes.

I wear baseball turf shoes. Feel like a trainer with a little more grip on the field.

I wear cleats most of the time. I do demo stuff though most of the time nothing crazy. I just feel with other shoes my foot might slip and there goes my groin. I'm working with younger guys right now so at times if you don't show it at close to full speed they think walk through is full speed.

I only wear cleats to practice/scrimmages/etc
I wear them because I run around so much and we practice on grass. If I need to hold a bag in drills or whatever I'm good to go.
At a summer camp this year we had a kid blow his cleats out and we just traded shoes. I taped his up and wore them the rest of the time.

Ive done it before. When I was in better shape and wanted to act like a bad *$$ I'd do it. I've been less disciplined with my own personal fitness the last few years so I don't do it as much. On wet days I like em

I wear turf shoes if it rains as they do a better job keeping water out. Also, in wet or cold weather, I put an ice bag over my socks which helps keep my feet dry when wet and insulates them from when the cold when they start to sweat in cold weather. Subway bags will work in a pinch but aren't as durable as the ice bags.

When I was at a school with only 21 kids on the roster, we couldn't do any team period without me being the scout QB or the scout MLB. Also makes it easier to demonstrate drills coaching DB's and QB's without falling on my face if I have cleats on. Biggest PITA is that you gotta take them off/on every time you need to go in/out of building unlike wearing just tennis shoes.

Depends on the surface. We practice on grass and turf (both poor quality). When we're on grass I'll wear cleats for traction as the field gets muddy quickly due to wet weather. When we're on turf I just wear sneaker type footwear.

I have worn cleats. I have a pair at school. If it's slick out I might put them on. Usually I'm in a turf trainer as long as it's comfortable and supportive. For me more than gripping the grass is support and some protection from cleats. I love my Nike Free 5.0 but if I get stepped on in those it hurts. Some thicker Boombah or UA Clutch Trainers offer a little more on top.
