I've got a few in mind. Since being a freshman in high school I've played/coached in roughly 200 games and there have been shootouts, blowouts, defensive struggles, comebacks, and everything else you can imagine.
My wildest game was probably a jv game this past fall against another nearby college. We started out up 14-0. Then our offense started having ball security issues and our defenders started losing leverage and missing tackles 14-12. We score but give up a big play to go in 21-20 going into the half.
They score to go up 26-21. We score to go up 28-26. We get a few stops and force a turnover deep in their end. Offense scores to go up 35-26. a turnover and a pass interference call gives their offense a short field and they score we stop their conversion attempt to maintain a 35-32 lead. Our offense takes a penalty and goes 3 and out. Then our long snapper rolled one back to our punter so he falls on it 35-34.
We kick to them and get a stop. Our offense fumbles near midfield. 3rd and long we have a cb undercut a pass and tip it their kid catches it and our safety pushes him out around the 10. No timeouts for either side we dig in and break up a pass, stop a draw, and tackle a receiver at the 1. They line up and the clock stops running for some reason (asst. baseball coach doesn't know football clock protocol.) Clock should have been under 10 seconds so them jumping offsides should have been a run off and the game should be over. Instead they got a free time out and sprinted he kick team on the field. We block the kick and recover it ball game.
Heck of a way to end the jv season. We had such little practice time with them this year that it led to some wild rides.

When I was in college we still had freshman ball. We played Ithaca College, which was a D.3 power. We weren't. They were up on us 35-7 when stuff started clicking for us. A missed tackle here, a pick six there and damn if we weren't up 36-35. It didn't last. Things started clicking or them and they won 56-36. It was fun while it lasted.

My junior year. We were a historically bad program. Hadn't won a conference game in 7 years. Highest scoring offense in the state comes in running the spread. Lucky for us it rained for 3 days straight before the game =) Our field was notoriously wet in even normal conditions so this ended up comically bad. We had em 0-0 in the 4th then they took a punt to the house and we ended up losing. Was the most fun loss I ever had though. I had 4 sacks as well.

Played Belton and had to bring the kids back on the field after we had already showered and were about to head to dinner. Refs decided they were gonna giv'em one last chance to beat us and told us we could be on the field or they could do it without us made no difference to them. When we finally got on the field the ball had been moved up about 15yds to give them a shot at a field goal. We were all in the refs ear but he let them kick it and he missed wide right. After the game it got crazy so we hit the dressing room and got the hell out of there.

Beat a county rival 52-50 - over 1,000 yards offense, both teams returned kick offs for tds. We blocked a short field goal at the end of the game. First time we had the school had beat that rival in a decade.

Quarterfinal game we won 7-6. We only scored on a pick 6. Last play of the game was a hail mary and they caught it, they went for 2 and we stopped them.
Semifinal game we won 76-70 in 5 OT's.
Amazing how one week both offenses couldn't do anything, yet the next the defenses were both irrelevant.
Then we blew out the team for the state championship. It was a wild 3 weeks.

**** crazy how it works out sometimes right. One year up here we gave up 11 points a game and went 6-4. That was good enough for #3 in scoring defense for all levels of ncaa. Our offense had no direction. Heck my 2nd year coaching we lost to a playoff team that was 6 classes bigger than us 5-3 in a game we almost tripled their yardage. Man I loved my kids that year. Defensively that was over a 4 week stretch where we gave up 10 defensive points and scored 35 points. Week before that streak started we couldn't bagel get a stop in our opener.

Huge turn. Just read some of the stats 64 rushes for 628 yards. Man ground and pound! Overcoming a couple of 18 point deficits in the first half And the game winning score with 14 seconds left. Heck of a night. Hope your club endd up on top.

State playoff game we are ranked nationally everyone had us pegged to get back to state title game for a re match from the year before greatest team ever in city history blahh blahh blahh. Playing a team we crushed in the regular season. Had a huge snow storm all week, had to practice in doors all week, stadium was buried almost moved the game, almost moved the game, all kinds of goodness that week. This team came out and had a great game plan against us. Their getting ready to pull off the upset of all time in PA. They are up by one with like 1:00 left on the 4 yard line. Our kids are screaming let em score coaches agree. So instead of taking a knee and icing the game they run a play and our D lets them score. They miss the EXP so now we are down 7. We return the kick 75 yards for a TD and tie the game up for OT. End up winning 27-20 in OT on a 4th down td pass.

Wildest game was a playoff game back about 15 years ago. We won 40 something to 28. They were up 21-0 fast. They were looking for more. Our NG pick six'd a middle screen. Then they fell apart. I think it was 28-28 at the half. To make it zanier our QB lost his contact and his brother with the same prescription came down out of the stands to give him his so he could finish the game.

I can think of three right away...
First one was as a player in college, NAIA regular season game. Playing the team that won our conference that year at their place. Final score was like 52-48. NO defense invovled really. Both offenses had over 750yards a piece. We ended up losing the game and as an OL I have never been so tired in my life.
Second was also as a player, NAIA Playoffs. We had to go to St Francis, Ind.. Up 28-0 at the end of the 1st qtr. Defensive Coordinator decides to run his base defense instead of what he put in and ran the 1st qtr. We end up losing 56-35.... Not only did we lose but in November its hell frozen over cold up there.
Third was as a coach. Playing a team that had way more talent than us, private school, which is a big deal in TN. They scored 15 points in the first qtr and we didnt do anything. Second qtr we moved the ball better but still couldnt punch it in. Finally in the second half. We drove the field converting multiple long third downs and at least one fourth down. Scored and hit the XP. Next drive their D1 tailback fumbles then ball on third down. We get it and score the very first play. Up 16-15 after the xp.. Last minute of the game when its all over and they dont have any timeouts to stop the clock our QB comes over to me and says coach whats the call? I said kneel on it. He said coach what do you mean. The kid was so excited I had to explain to him that they could stop the clock anymore and the game was basically over as long as he held onto the snap.

2010 Second round of the playoffs. We go down south to play a big, fast, tough team. Back and forth all game long, nobody is ever able to really put another team away. They score to go up 45-41 with about 2 minutes to go. We march down and on 4th and goal from the 19 we score on a jump ball fade to take the lead 48-45. They proceed to get out of their base offense (which to that point had totally been gashing us) and go 4 wide and our rockhanded MLB picks off a tipped pass to end it.

1993, in Idaho, Holt Arena, Semi final game, playing West Jefferson, we are cruising to a nice win just before half we intercept their pass and are taking it the other way but we lose two players to dislocated elbows on that play, which is four positions because everyone goes both ways, loss the qb/fs, te/ss, so halftime is adjustments like crazy, our starting fb is backup qb, moved a couple of jv guys into the backfield, replace the te with my jv te, we run the ball the whole 2nd half which they can't stop but when they realize we got jv guys at secondary they whip it around, game finishes 70 something to 50 something, we win but now have to go on to the championship missing two key players

it was the most crazy thing, the thing about it I was coming down from the box which was out in bfe, top of the dome, I saw the pic and I kind of follow the ball so I didn't see the results because I was trying to get to the locker room at the same, I get there and the 3 other coaches are going we need to move here and here, and I go wait a sec, we are not up enough to start subbing and they say we loss qb and te, the two kids go to the hospital and sit there in hospital beds listening to the game like the longest yard, the hfc says to me I want you on the sidelines it could be a Chinese fire drill, my line was pretty darn good and we moved that ball and scored somewhere in the 70s and we are telling our kids stay in bounds but if you can score get it because when they started winging that ball around it was like trying to hold water with cheese cloth

Heck of a night. Hope your club endd up on top. We won. We actually hadn't installed our sprint out protection yet, but off the time out kind of drew it up in the dirt. I'm not even sure what the actual play call was but we sprinted out, they blitzed the middle and the QB ran it in with little trouble. We thought we scored with too much time left. We had to kick off to them and still worried they could house a quick pitch. Plus the QB wasn't terrible and could throw it. In the end they got to about our 40. Chucked one deep to the MSU kid they had and they fell short. It was CRAZY.
In the end we were able to beat them because they gave our TE a free release early and the FS couldn't get down to cover him. Then cover 0 is a great way to lose a QB in a scramble situation. We forced them to punt once and it was all we needed.
Here is film of the kid who ran for 10 ypc against a very good team later in the year.

White has Belmont on the right path too. Man is a heck of a coach and is great with the double wing.

We were down 21-0 with 8:24 left in the 4th vs. our top rival. Small school-purple (1100 students) vs Big school-red (2k students).
We score 28 pts. in a less than 9 minutes. * they don't show everything, but the last FG @3:55 was because they went 3 & out and we were able get back into FG position.
@3:55 is why you teach your players to never give up and play until you hear the whistle; the ball was still live.
It was pandemonium.

He and I coached together at Maryville in 1990. I haven't seen him in person since we played him when he was at Harrisonville. Talked to him on the phone a couple of times, but I don't have his number anymore, he changed phones or something.

81-74 win in 2006. (4OT) Down 19 at halftime, come back to tie it at 53 at the end of regulation. We set trips bunch to the boundary and ran OZ on 1st down of every OT period and scored. Our 5'8" 155 lb outside linebacker forced a fumble on their blue-chip 6'5" QB to end it.

Two of these come to mind, one as a coach, the other as a player. As a player, in college, we are playing a wishbone triple team, that we are stuffing all day long. They have a good defense, but b/c of some turnovers etc. we are up 21-0 leading into the final 4 minutes of the game. They come out in 2x2 gun (NEVER seen them do this), and start slinging the ball around. Because our DB's were so ingrained all day with tackling ball carriers I guess they forgot to cover and we give up a cheap score AND the 2 pt. conversion now it's 21-8. They attempt onside kick, don't get it. We run 3 plays w/them burning timeouts and we have to punt to them w/under 2 min. left to go. They have to drive a bit this time, but score again on a pass and get the 2 pt. conversion putting us up 21-16 with about 20 some seconds to go in the game. They kick the onside AND GET IT BACK. First pass goes deep, ends up our DB tips it to their receiver who stumbles into endzone. They go for 2 and miss, and win the game 22-21 final. Very tough loss to swallow.
As a coach, I was on the other end of this one year. Went down 27-7 at halftime to a team, and then scored 24 unanswered points in the second 1/2 to win 31-27. It was a wild ride b/c 21 of the 24 points were scored in less than 3 minutes of elapsed game time.
Craziest game I watched as a spectator was watching my alma mater about 10 years ago. It was their homecoming game, and the crowd was jacked and it was also a rivalry game. Game was back and forth, but the opponent began stretching it's legs early in the 2nd half and led 41-28 going into the 4th quarter. Well, my alma mater comes back and with 3 seconds left on the clock makes the game 45-44 on a beautiful 62 yard hail Mary pass. Crowd is going nuts at this point. We kickoff and they take it back 100 yards for a TD to end the game 50-45! Never witnessed the deflation in a crowd like that in all my days being around the game, it was crazy.
Duece
Edit: Lol, I said 2 came to mind, but as I was typing I remembered the one I watched as a spectator. Had to throw that one in there too!

A crazy one I played in was in my senior year of high school on homecoming. It started the week before. Our head coach got himself suspended for (I put it on my father's grave) putting his hands on one of our players when we clinched a playoff birth and he got the gatorade shower. He turns around shoots hands into the players chest and runs him into the fence around the track.
So we are without our head coach for the week who is also our oc. Dc is a good dude, but a little lazy and thought it'd be an easy win so our practices are very lax.
Our acting oc does the right thing and just hands the ball to our all world hb (Good call). Acting head coach kept playing a kid at db who had been a good player for us in the past, but got little to no work as a db that year and at safety instead of corner. Needless to say he was a major liability against their flex bone offense.
Game was wild. Not 70-64, but just back and forth. We'd pound one home they'd get open and make a play on that db. Gave up 3 touchdowns that night after 1 the previous 3 years. One drive he loses his guy and mine stayed into block so I humped toward the middle of the field and luckily ran his guy down. We held.
Late in the game it is 27-27 and they are set up to punt but get a bad snap and I tackle the punter inside the 5. We come off the field like we won the superbowl! We trot out our all county automatic kicker for a last second win and he misses. So we go to overtime which in Florida is basically 4 hard from the 10 At least it was then. We go defense first. Backside def end runs the qb down for no gain, they run veer and I run the pitch down at the line of scrimmage, and on third down they run option pass and my guy went in orbit motion so I rolled deep, found #2, and broke up the pass at the goalline. they kick a field goal. We run our tb on first down, get to the one and run a qb sneak to win the game 34-31.
Still the only overtime game I've ever been a part of. Had a lot decided in the last minute, but only one in overtime. The end was crazy to me. The punt, the missed kick, getting a stop, and closing. Needless to say it was a good homecoming.
Also that was the beginning of the end for our head coach. Had a feud with the ad over being suspended for that game and got himself fired. Not a very pc guy got himself fired from his next job for questioning his players sexuality and the "moral integrity" of the cheerleaderrs in less pc terms.

Just thought of another one...
Back in 2011, we had both an earthquake and a hurricane in the span of about a month. The weather was horrible. As you can imagine, after a few games, our natural turf field was a quagmire.
We had just come off a championship the previous season and we were playing a perennial losing team.
Neither team could move the ball, and our opponents were pumped up as we only had a 6-0 lead late in the game. They were playing with a lot of confidence and simply out playing us.
They go down and score with about five minutes in the game. They make their XP and go bonkers.
Now up 7-6, we're doing all we can to score, but are still coming up short. They are playing us well and the poor field conditions are not helping us at all.
With about 2 minutes left in the game, we're on their 40 yd. line, facing a 4th down, and I elect to punt. Everybody thought I was nuts, but my thought was that if we can pin them deep, use our one timeout wisely, we might get the ball in decent enough field position to just chuck it in the end zone a few times, as nothing else was working.
We pin them inside their 10. They run a couple bad plays trying to run the clock down, but they actually loose yards and find themselves on their own 2 yd line.
We still have our timeout. It gets to 3rd down and they take a knee on the 1. They didn't want to loose anymore yardage, but they must have forgot that we still had a timeout. We call timeout and there is about 7 seconds on the clock.
After the timeout, it's 4th down and they line up to punt the ball. I guess they figured they couldn't afford to back up, so punt it off, and by time we returned it, they would tackle us the game would be over.
When they line up to punt, the snapper snaps the ball (you guessed it) over the punters head. The ball actually bounces off of the field goal post.
We win on a safety 8-7. One of the damndest things I had ever seen.
