I hope he goes to a big time college and makes option football popular again. It is the most fun to watch for me.

I love seeing a fullback gouge a defense over and over on the dive, then get stuffed, then the qb reads it right, and then he pitches it down the sideline with no one in the way for 80 i love seeing a team eat up an entire quarter of football one quarter then seeing the same team score from 75 yards out on the pitch phase of a triple option I love seeing the double teams it provides at the poa but hey, I am an OL

You can stil lsee a 75 yard pass in an option offence. Admittedly it's set up differently and is probably going to be catch and run. UNC could really be on to something here. The system works so perhaps he can recruit option playes from high school who would otherwise have to adapt to other systems in Div 1 or attend 1AA schools. I stil think he will have difficulty attracting pro prospect level talent on offence but he will get the talent he needs for his system with ease

Imagine all of the great option talent that can be absorbed INTO ONE division I team...gives kids that are option talent, not pro talent a target to shoot for...I miss the old Oklahoma Sooners....bring back the bone!

he will get what he has now at navy- fast dudes that are "too short" to play at other schools- admittedly he would get a little bit bigger versions maybe
and he would be able to find some TOTAL bulls at fullback to set it all up
navy would probably stick with it I would hope, even if he left

I would think hed get better talent...kids that want to play the same positions for example but get that free ride ...and I dont mean on an air craft carrier...

My guess is that, due to the success they've had, Navy would keep it in the family and hire someone with a strong option background, maybe someone currently on their staff if they all don't go with Johnson. And, as most have stated, I would love to see the true triple option excel in a BCS program. I'm assuming this is mostly rumor now, but I would wish Johnson the best!

Thinking about this a bit further would he leave Navy? He exceeds expectations of a service acadamy each year and more importantly beats Army.
His system is perfect for his athletes, offensively at least.
Every coach involved in football must love to have players who take instruction and have been taught to accept or voice opinions and concerns in an informed, structured and constructive manner.
And would he really want to return to traditional recruiting?

Ditto! I know he is a very competitive guy, and would love to try the enormous state university to prove himself. But the other problem is that if he says "I am sticking to the true spread option system" from what I hear a lot of AD's would say "no way, change or don't work here ." Then again, UNC (my little girl goes there) is way down now. Of course the other thing is that Varisty football is the king of Military College sports (Citadel myself). At UNC football will always be 2d best (just as Mack Brown). He may just stay at Anapolis and enjoy coaching instead of baby sitting and schmoozing boosters. Greg

UNC beleives they have reached an agreement with Butch Davis Can't say that's much of a surprise for me, but I would have loved to see Johnson go to UNC. Hopefully he gets a big time job soon. I'm one of those guys who wants to see the triple at a big school again.

Ummm...isn't A&M 8-2 and probably headed to a decent bowl game? Wow, you Aggie fans are tough! What happened to the "12th Man" stuff and all the support for the team?
Of course, A&M has also fired Gene Stallings, Emory Bellard, Jackie Sherrill (of course!) and R.C. Slocum, too. That'd be pretty good company for Franchione.

Iowa State will hire Jim Harbaugh. If they do indeed decide to fire thier current staff. GHowever one bad season full on injuries I highly doubt this will happen.

Isn't Harbaugh at a IAA non scholarship school? To go to not having to do much recruiting to Big 12....wow! I hope he doesn't have a nervous breakdown. Greg

The university that should hire Johnson is DUKE! He would give them at least a fighting chance to win in the ACC. No one runs option, and I think his system is a great equalizer of talent.
