I wanted to include this all in one post but have it separated internally.
What are the main things that you want to have accomplished in the spring?
We normally have a lot of new kids out, so we obviously begin with the basics: stance and start. We stress that first and foremost during the spring. We will teach about 4 formations, and 3-4 pass concepts. We only run zone, power, buck, and jet s9 we get that installed too. But I was wondering what everyone else does? Do you guys spend more time in indy and group, or more time in team? More about conditioning or football?
Now in regards to the summer, we are changing it up this year. Going to do one day of agility drills, one day of Functional Muscle Training (battle ropes, prowlers, med balls, etc..) one day on jump ropes, and one day doing mat drills. Everyday we will lift for the second hour and then go to the field for an hour. Monday thru Thursday. Planning on focusing more on the passing game during the summer since we have 7-on-7s.
What different things do you guys do, as far as, conditioning, lifting, or football-wise during the spring/summer? Or is what you do similar to ours?

We have a month of practice followed by a game in May, so we have to do things a little bit accelerated. LIFTING IN THE SPRING: 4 days/week, wednesdays off. get big. big weight, multi-joint lifts, ground-based whenever possible. Some running and agility throughout the spring. We start with stance and starts early on, around february, and we start installing our offense as early as possible. I do as much teaching, talking, theory as possible while we have no equipment on. We try and get 90% of our offense installed before we get any pads. Out first few helmet days, we do chutes, walk-thrus, 6-point-stance drill on the bags. The entire goal is so that the moment we get pads on, zero teaching has to take place. We know the drills, we know the plays, we know the language, calls, concepts. Football IQ is in place, so any and all adjustments can be made on the fly without stopping the entire team. SUMMER:3 days/week, trying T-W-Th this summer. more full-body lifting, more explosion, more running and agility. We fix some of the issues we had in spring, but keep the same concept in place: teach as much as possible with no equipment, so we can rep as much as possible once we get pads on. As the OL coach, the biggest thing we have done in the offseason has been 1-on-1's against the DL. With no pads on, we lose most of the reps, which I've learned is a great thing. The OL focus on their individual technique, not worrying about the outcome of the rep. If they improve to the point on winning 1/2 the reps, things are looking pretty good for when equipment goes on.
