So Cal. And the main reason why teams are already doing 7 on 7 is because they feel the need to keep their kids away from the leaches that are the 7 on 7 all-star tournaments. That's how it's being sold to us in GA. If we, as high schools dont get involved, 7v7 will become like AAU basketball.

And the problem for the high school coach is that his work load never ends and there is no monetary reward at the end of the day as a result of it. While it's all about the money for the 7 on 7 coach who is doing a fraction of the work the high school coach does. The sad part is that the 7 on 7 pimps actually sit around waiting for this time of the year. It's the sad truth and there's a lot of work put into something that doesn't even truly produce results for Friday night. And it can cause coaches stress and result in a lack of confidence if they don't do well or a false sense of confidence if they do. And let's be honest, have any of you ever lost a game in the season and thought to yourself: "well that never would have happened if we did better on a 7 on 7 in May."?

Wow. That's crazy. Must be one of many reasons that so many SoCal teams win state every year. That extra time.

We were state runner up in 7 on 7 one year. We proceeded to go 1-8. Hc was baffled. He thought we were going to make a run for sure.

Here in our section (Ncs) we were specifically told not to have our own teams That it would count as illegal out of season practices... So it has become nothing but all star teams, football pimps, and sloppy football I truly think some (not all) of our kids have gotten worse from competing this spring (bad habits, inflated egos)

Our kids lift/run in the morning b4 school we average 80 kids 10-12.
50 of these kids play another sport in the spring. Our track team will probably win state.
We have Spring Football in GA, on our team to get equipment you must have made 75% of the workouts from Jan-April. You receive 15 bonus days if you play another spring sport (so built in take a day if needed) and 8 days if you completed a winter sport. Most come anyway, unless they had a meet or game that ran late the previous day.
Our kids go to practice, extra help, etc.. in the spring.
On Tuesday's in April I do Math Bootcamp for EOCT testing on Tuesday's, I like it I have 20 kids, why ebcause they don't have to work about missing workouts
