My wife gave birth to our first child on 16 March, a boy. He was 2 months premature. For the rest of the week I was at the hospital keeping watch over my family. I had missed 5 workouts. Normally I get very anxious when I am not at practice/workouts. It may have been because my mind was obviously in a different place. Prayed, A LOT during this week. I told my wife as were driving home that Friday, I think Im done coaching. She asked why and I told her simply my son is going to need me more than I need football. She looked at me and with all the love in the world she told me, NO. You coach, that is what you do. You are good at what you do. Your son will be fine. Coaches, I HAVE FOUND A KEEPER.

Mine is also a keeper. She makes more money than me (she is a nurse)...she has let one of my player move in with us, he was in a very bad situation. She also let's me have position groups over to our house for dinner on different weeks. Gotta love having a good woman!

Congrats- special time.
Honestly though, I have a gaggle of kids and I never considered NOT COACHING because COACHING HAS BEEN GOOD TO MY FAMILY.

My wife is the same way. We have a 17 month old who has many complications. She has Down syndrome and was born with a heart defect. She has been through two life saving open heart surgeries.
Our second one arrives in September. I mentioned not coaching this year and she told me not to even think that way.
