The NFL rules are different than other organizations. However, don't confuse "chop block" and block below the waist. They are not synonymous. "Chop Block" refers to Player A blocking Player B below the waist while Player B was already engaged with Player C. It has always been illegal on passing plays, but in listening to Mike Golic it was allowed during run plays. Now it is not.

Yea I just saw them explain it on NFL network. I was confused because in the clip they were showing earlier they had a tackle cutting a dlineman who wasn't engaged

I think I saw the same NFL Network clips you are talking about and it threw me for a loop too. They made it seem like all blocking below the waist on the line of scrimmage (aka cuttting) is now illegal, but I don't think that's the case.

It's confusing because some "chop blocks" were legal; but now *all* are illegal, but what it means is still confusing. www.thescore.com/nfl/news/989654Does it mean any chop block where another guy has a hand or finger on the guy is illegal? What if he made contact just before the chop/cut block engaged? Hard to know.
