Anybody have a suggestion on tape to use to put names on helmets. Looking for one that doesn't leave marks which has been problem in past.
Thanks

I've always used masking tape. Works great and no residue when you take it off.

We put the names on the back of the helmets, and only for the freshman, only for the summer.
Even if residue is left, it is on the back of the helmet and isnt noticed too much.
Painters tape seems like an interesting idea though. Not sure if it would hold up.

We use electrical tape. Three different colors: Red for varsity, White for JV, and Green for freshmen.
Before we hand out equipment / stuff lockers we cut 3 strips for each kid. These strips go onto a dry erase board so that we can write names and then pull the tape off when needed. One strip is for the helmet, one for the shoulder pads, and another for the locker. This little prep makes it quicker to get kids in and out of the equipment room and it is much more organized.

Blue painters tape works great...doesn't hold up forever, but by the time it is destroyed you know the kids name.
