Besides retiring a jersey, has anyone done anything creative to honor former players that made it to the NFL?

Besides retiring a jersey, has anyone done anything creative to honor former players that made it to the NFL? Joe DeFranco has a framed jersey from every guy who trained in his gym that made the pros. I think that is pretty cool. Maybe do the same thing in the high school weight room?

That would be really cool. Signed, even better. A plaque somewhere at the field/stadium would be a good idea too or something where visitors can see them. The jersey thing inside the gym or school is awesome for the school and athletes who go through there, but not many outside people would see it. Needs to be something in a public area as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using proboards

Besides retiring a jersey, has anyone done anything creative to honor former players that made it to the NFL? I would honor them by hitting them up for every fund raising need I could dream of!!!!

The super bowl 50 gold balls are pretty cool. Our school is fortunate enough to have an alum that played in a super bowl so we received one from him. Really neat thing to have.

What if you have no stadium and don't have access to jerseys?

Something I've seen a lot is a plaque with every team's helmet and under it a list of all the alumni according to which team they first played for (usual criteria is dress in a league game).

We hang a picture for every athlete that moves on to a 4 year university on one wall in the weight room, usually an action/game shot. On a different wall is action shots of those that made it to the league. Most guys provide their own picture and sign it.

One high school I used to coach against has huge billboards around the stadium filled with state championship teams years and names, also each player who moved on to play college and then more billboards for guys who made the NFL. List keeps on getting bigger. Its actually a really cool thing they way they do it, its kinda like here's our history can you match it. Where I am not many if any schools can.

a thought would be a ring of honor type plaque on the pressbox. You could do their number year they graduated and pro team they played for
