What do coaches do during spring ball? I feel Spring Ball in Ca (Helmets only) is more towards skill guys. Trying to find way to get lineman involved.
Also, what do you do on d days to teach run stuff?

Teach how to line up to formations and their run fits, you don't have to go pads for any of that Beside lining up is number one on defense Then the players first 3 steps, after that it's athletic ability , hustle and effort
Offensively you can do all your run game on air, I would say 90 percent of tempo teams do this for over half their offensive team practice sessions anyway.
We are going to go every other day helmets then pads A real Solid teach day then live

We dont have spring ball, just practicing during june and july. But when we are regulated to wearing helmets only or shells, we still work on individuals with the lineman.
You can also work on some 1 v 1 pass rush drills.
Also we will do anything to get competition going, so we will do "lineman games" (farmers walk, sand bag relays, tire flips, etc.).

1-on-1 pass rush has become the greatest off-season drill we've run over the past few years. I dont in any way recognize winning or losing a rep, I focus solely on technique, both body position and alignment to the defender. We are a run-heavy Wing-T team and dont have much time during the season to rep pass pro. Also, with our shoulder blocking, it is hard to work run blocking without shoulder pads. In the off-season, the 10-15 min/day we put into pass pro has truly been a game-changer for us.

I've found spring ball to be a great time to give plenty of attention and coaching to guys who will all be academically ineligble in the fall

We just go through every fundamental part of our game, every day. We do all of the base stuff until it's second nature.

I'm in a different section from you and we don't get to use helmets, just footballs. We'll go 9 days of 1.5 hrs each and focus on fundamentals and skills because I have no idea who is going to be there. Spring sports are still going on and being a small school most of the athletes are playing sports. So we start from scratch and coach whatever players show up. We'll start all over again when we start summer practice and then again when we start fall practice. I never trust anyone to be part of the team until they show up in August so I try to make sure that we cover the basics as often as we can.
May practice for us is warmups, indy (we call that Skills now) and group are the primary, maybe 10-15 minutes of team each day. O today, D tomorrow arrangement.

No spring ball, but we'll run a summer-long weekly camp to install:
Base stuff Fundamentals
It's always uppers or just helmets, and we get the majority of our base stuff done by the time Aug 15th hits

Also, what do you do on d days to teach run stuff? we never use helmets cleats and shorts only we do not do a ton of contact even in full gear so spring ball in no gear really doesnt matter to me we use bags/handshields as the OL coach i love it, i get a ton of time to work on basic indy stuff teaching them MY teaching progression stance steps you can spend spring ball working the heck out of just that we learn the drills to get better at all of our blocks needed for our core schemes we learn (through steps, and controlled reps) how to -down block -base block -double -pull for power -pull for counter -b gap hinge -buck pulls -quick pass pro -dropback pass pro -sprint out i can use our indy time to teach the scheme/play meanwhile the skinny kids are running around through cones and learning routes and plays and other stupid lame stuff a spring ball practice is not that different from a summer or in season practice for me... only i have JV kids with me and we have to do a little more stance and explaining early on for defense the approach is similar... we do not need to work team run fits really. We get better with indy time we do some 7on7 we work a lot of READS for each position group any team we do is more for alignment and checking for understanding (yes i used an educational term to talk about football)
