Yes. Typically teams have a scrimmage at the end of week 1. Then 2 scrimmages in week 2. Then 2 jamborees in week 3. Wow that's insane. I can't believe in this age of nerfing everything that they allow this to happen, that's a ton of contact in a short amount of time. How do you even get anything done those weeks? Seems like there is no recovery time or time to practice at all if you have two a week. Just amazes me to see that. Some schools have chosen not to use all 5 pre-season contests the past couple of years. Typical schedule would be to have a scrimmage on the second day of full pads. These first scrimmages are usually like a practice with coaches on the field, stopping play to coach up their athletes. 8 plays and a drive is usually the format. Some schools have a jamboree (1/2 of a game with coaches on the sideline) on that 6th day, which seems crazy to me. Most places I've worked would then have Sunday off, practice Monday and then have another scrimmage on Tuesday of that second week. Third scrimmage would be the Friday or Saturday later that week, often this scrimmage would be a game-like structure. Then week three 2 jamborees, maybe Tuesday and Friday or even Friday and Saturday. We have been playing our season opener week 0 (one week early) so we only had 2 pre-season games last year and it was plenty. We are thin and didn't really want more than that.

We do two a days for the first 4 days of practice with an one hour break between practices. We have one practice for offense and one for defense.
