Well the idea of a "student-athlete" is a sham in most major D1 colleges so why not make it a sham in high school as well?

All it's doing is legalizing what has been happening here in south Florida for years. Its the wild west down here, kids transfer in and out as they please. The team that attracts the most talented mercenaries wins

Open enrollment has been a thing for a while in any number of Florida counties. This law won't be the end of competitive football in the state.

Personally I don't think this opens a can of worms athletically, people have been loopholing these laws for YEARS. I suppose now the ones who can't afford to rent an extra apartment, drive an extra hour, or pick up everything and move now get to benefit too. Is that such a bad thing or should the privilege only go to the ones who can afford it?
My bigger problem is that I don't like the part saying, "that has room." What does that mean? Does every school now have to assign itself a maximum capacity? If so, what if my school is 25 short of maximum capacity and we have 250 new students wanting to enroll? Who gets left out? Do public schools now start to recruit ONLY certain kids and allow those in while keeping others out?

First, each school already has a maximum number of students they can handle with the faculty in place. I still think it will create a certain "Wild West" mentality.
Second, the bill isn't law yet. It still has to ratified.
I have very mixed feelings on this issue. I think in the end there will be players hurt by this ruling. The thing is will it become you discipline a player & he can leave mid season? Most of the coaches here have mixed feelings only time will tell how good or how bad of idea this actually is.
