Looking for ideas for how to market our program better via Social media. What are you guys doing via Instagram, Twitter, Facebook to market and make your team more noticeable?

Win games. People will seek you out...they'll come to you.
Also, they'll buy tickets, hot dogs, soft drinks, and souvenirs.

No, no they won't. Not for OP's situation.
Check out Metro Toronto Wildcats, they do a fantastic job of promoting themselves on Twitter and Facebook. For HS programs, Nelson Lords probably do the best job.

We highlight players, moms, people in the community. We (I) create weekly and season end highlight videos.
The reality is, social media needs to be a very small portion of what you spend time on because it yields the lowest return. Biggest marketing push will be boots on the ground in the community. Malls, beer stores, door to door, high schools, elementary schools, flag football, local media (come up with a Story and pitch it), etc.
OP and I have similar challenges.

@chi5chi I coach in Canada. In Ontario there are two leagues that run in the summer time. Our association switched from one league to the other. The league we are in now has no boundaries so players can come from any city if they would like to play for us. With that being said we gave up our boundaries in the other league so other teams could potentially recruit our players to play in nearby cities. The other league is thought of as the "premier" league for the province. (That conversation is for another thread) So with that all being said we don't want our players leaving to go to another city and we would like to look appealing for players for other cities to come play for. Of course winning is a great way to attract players. Since the head coach has taken over we have gone from having to forfeit games because of lack of players to being 7-1 last year and getting upset in the semi finals. We are on the right track program development wise. I'm looking to take the next step in social media.

@natentor I'm just looking to make us look more appealing. Getting players to play for us isn't an issue.

@natentor I'm just looking to make us look more appealing. Getting players to play for us isn't an issue. First part of what I suggested should help with that. Highlight videos that we post on YouTube (linked to from Twitter, instagram, facebook) are good and kids really like them it seems. I've done vine videos of various plays on twitter and tagged the player that made it.

Yeah, we have hudl so doing a weekly game highlight package won't be hard. It will also save time when we want to create an end of the season highlight package. One of the other programs is doing an Instagram "commitment" thing where once a big name player commits to playing for that team they do a short write up on Instagram. Thought it was a great idea.
