Coaches, How much time do you give the kids after school is finished to get out to practice? We have given them twenty minutes in the past.

School is out at 245. We take attendance at 3. They are expected to be dressed at 3. School is a 30 second drive or 5 minute walk from the fieldhouse.

Coachirish, are you coaches teaching right before practice? There are times when I feel like our kids have too much time, but there are more times I need to take care of teaching responsibilities before I can leave the building and I am thankful for the extra time HC gives. I think we get 20ish minutes.

Monday's are our early days 3 school is out 3:30 we start practice
Rest of week we don't start until 4:30 A lot of our kids need tutoring after school and we got tired of starting practice and half the team would be late but bring a pass from their teacher
It also gives our off campus coaches (the entire varsity staff besides myself) more time to arrive and set up anything they need

I think we get 20ish minutes. I have 4th block planning in the fall so I am done with academics at 1:10. The other coach that works for the school system is done at 2:45 and drives 10 minuts from the middle school. My two other coaches have flexible jobs and are there usually by the time stretching is over at 310.

we get done at 3 but don't start till 330, I have 2 schools that coop with us and they don't get here till 330, my kids like it because it gives them time to get help if they need it after school and they don't have to rush

our guys get out at 3:05 and we practice at 5:30. It does leave room for players to be late but with proper discipline, it can be overcome. The advantage to a later start is that we have a easier time mandating players with grade trouble find a tutor. I coach at a private school, so we really dont have a choice, since none of our coaches work at the school.

School is out at 3. Practice starts at 330. That being said this year we had several injuries and at one point moved start time back until 345 to give all our players time to get treatment and get to practice.

School ends at 2:30. Until daylight savings we have film and lifting (alternate days jv/varsity) from 2:45-3:15. Practice starts at 3:45. It's about a 5-10 minute walk out to the field, locker room is one way in/out and pretty cramped. To get them all dressed and out to the practice field, 15 mins would be pushing it.
After daylight savings, school out at 2:30, practice 3-5 (or dark), film/lift 5:15-5:45

For practice, we give them 30 min to be dressed and on the field, since they have to walk about a half a mile from the locker room to the field.
For weights, it's 15 minutes to be dressed and report for attendance since our weight room is connected to the locker room.

School gets out at 2:20, and we start on Mondays at 2:40 in the classroom, watch film, and go over the scouting report. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we are on the field at 2:50.

We get out at 230 and don't start until 315. Let's all of our guys in the building take care of their school stuff and make it to practice without being super rushed.

Kids will have 25-30 minutes. Usually winds up being 20 as one of the coaches will rush them out of the locker room.
On film days after school (before practice), they'll have about 15-20 minutes to get to their film locations and about 10 minutes to get to the practice field after film.

So most of you have after school athletics? When else is there? School starts for us at 7:30. If we did practice before school, they'd need to be here at 4:30 AM to start getting suited up. We like having enough kids to actually field a team

Previous stop school got out at 225. Practice started at 240. Most kids had the 6th period Football PE class.
Current stop school gets out at 225. Practice starts at 300. Boarding school. First year students and any student with a D in any class has mandatory tutoring until 3. Those who are late because of grades have a reminder period (extra conditioning), first year students have a pass for the reminder period.

End of the school day for us is 3:00, "pre-practice" at 3:15, and then practice starts at 3:30. The Pre-practice time is pretty informal, although I generally use the time to walk through plays and concepts with the OL.

I like giving them and coaches 30 min after school. I have taught a last class before, and getting everything ready, changing, using the rest room and just getting my mind settled sometimes took all the time I could take. Think the same goes for the kids. I don't think I could have done everything in 15, and not been organized and prepared the way I would like to be. Plus it barley gives kids time to use the rest room and get ready.
