Has anyone ever used a harness with linemen during get offs to teach them to power through resistance of another player and keep their feet chopping/moving?
Thinking this could be a cheap and effective tool bit wondering if others have used such tactics with OL or DL before?

Sled seems much more practical. If u don't have a sled, use a heavy dummy. No heavy dummy, have a player hold a shield and try and resist. No shield, have the lineman lock up already and then resist.

I use bands around the shoulders. Makes them learn how to keep leverage. If they stand up, they get jerked back.

Not only if they stand up will they get jacked back but if they don't keep taking short choppy jab steps then they will get jacked back as well. I coach JV aged players and outside of pad leverage and hand work I find the biggest issue for linemen is continuing to drive past initial contact. Sled don't really help with that but feel a harness or bands like you use can be an effect tool to teaching that continuous drive initially

I hate using a sled. I do like one man sleds but will also use the bands with the sled.

We have a good one but its too light. I want to find a way to add weight to it. Maybe weld a broke barbell sleeve so I can add weight on it.

We've used a towel around the waist before. A player behind holds the towel in a U shape. It goes around the hips/waist of the OL

We had this problem. We made a competition period where we put two men under the cage (chute- not sure what you call it) and they had to try and drive the other guy out. Both guys took their offensive steps and attacked. Loser had 5 updowns. They learn to compete a bit and work to finish with their feet. Worked well for us.
