I know that this doesn't apply to some of you since all of the games in your area are on Friday nights. Where I am, though, because of shared stadiums Thursday and Saturday varsity games are a regular thing. I was wondering how often you guys go to games between teams with which you have no affiliation.
Personally, I don't go often. What got me thinking about this is that there was a huge game here Saturday afternoon between two undefeated games, one of which I used to coach. It was a beautiful Fall afternoon but not once did I seriously consider driving the four miles to the game. So, how about you?

I hate sitting in the stands of any game.

It is tough. I try to catch some post-season games if we are not playing if there is a team, match-up or kid I want to see, but as I have gotten older it is tough. The fans and parents are down right HORRIBLE! I struggle to sit there and not say anything. It turns me away.
In-season is too hard since everyone plays Friday night and our prep overlaps going on the road 2 hours away for a game.

I go to see some buddies coach occasionally. But only if they play farther than us. State Championship games I will go to though. Particularly if we've played someone in the game.

I'll go to playoff games once we are eliminated. I always make as many state tournament games as I can. In the past when some teams started a week earlier than the rest of the state, I would usually try to make one of those. Or if someone played on a Thursday, I would go to a close game.

I might go to a game on our open week or if we are out of the playoffs.
I prefer to go to places I haven't been or some of the more iconic stadiums in the state. And I'll always go to the state finals.

I'll try to go see my uncle's team once a season during the bye week, thankfully they're usually in the playoffs so I can catch up with them then.
I don't go see teams from our league, I just want to see them on HUDL.

I will go to one of our sister school's games if it's a big one. I will also go to a league opponent's play-off game if it's nearby.

Unless it is the state championship game, I only go on rare instances I can scout.....like this week, where we have a bye.

I don't.
No need to scout because of film exchange and I don't want to see other guys coach in the playoffs when we're out (yes, I know that's petty). I do not like dealing with parking, ticket lines, and the crowds either.
Use to go to State Finals every year but since they've moved downtown Detroit (Ford Field) it's not as convenient plus they're televised.

After your team has lost in the playoffs going to a championship game is like getting dumped and going to your ex's wedding.

I typically go only when scouting, or if it's a playoff game, but I WANT to go to as many as possible.
We are a small state, and when it comes time to vote for all-state, I sometimes don't have a clue as to who some of these guys being nominated are. I can't vote for a guy I haven't seen at least on film, so I try to get to as many as possible, especially if there is a high caliber player on the team.

I try to go to as many playoff games as possible after the end of the season. Occasionally if we play on a Saturday, or our upcoming opponents play on a Saturday I go scout during the regular season. Not regularly. Once playoffs hit, I usually try to get some of my assistants or some of my friends who coach elsewhere to go to at least one game with me somewhere. May be a friend's game, may just be a really good game I want to see.
One year, I went to a Friday night playoff game, a 1pm game on Saturday and a 5pm game after. That weekend about footballed me out. I don't do that anymore. Last year I only went to 1 playoff game and that was a friend of mine in the conference's 2nd round game.

not sure how ya'll have time to do that during the season if you are a HS or JH coach, even if it's a saturday game. I know we don't.

I do not go to many. I owe my wife and family that. Plus, there really aren't many I can go to during the season anyways because I am so busy.
Plus I now coach JV boys basketball and JV girls basketball and am AD and math teacher. Just a little busy.

I went with my wife on fall break to watch a friends team play 45 minutes away while his wife chatted with my wife.

I was very lucky, my wife and kids always wanted to go watch someone play a football game if we weren't. My son is a coach now and my daughter still loves going to games.

I genuinely like to go see what other schools offer as far as atmosphere. Who gets good crowds, is the layout ideal etc. I should probably get another hobby lol

I'd go if I could just because I love to see a good game, and I do go watch playoff football when our season ends.

I have found that now that my son is 6, he's way more interested in actually going to games. I just grab him and my godson and head to a game either on Friday or Saturday night depending on when we play. He likes it and I get work done scouting.
