How many of you guys are getting sick of the media crediting Boise's win over Oklahoma to trick plays and "gutsy" playcalling?
Granted, Boise ran two or three outstanding gadget plays at the end of the game, but it doesn't eliminate the fact that the Boise State offensive line DOMINATED OU up front...How many times did Boise run that power play to the right? That OU OLB is going to see the Boise State LG in his nightmares for YEARS to come! The FACT of the matter is that Boise State stood toe-to-toe with OU for 60 minutes, slugged it out, and came out on top...Boise was CLEARLY more physical!
Just ticks me off that the media is trying to give a well-known coach and respected program a break by attributing their loss to the other team's "trick plays" and "gutsy" play calling. OU got outplayed and outcoached. Simple as that!

Announcers aren't picked to appeal to Coaches...they're picked to appeal to a younger crowd that loves the yelling and screaming about nothing.

Yup, there are two types of media when you're dealing with Boise State, those that think they're a fluke and those that think they should be playing Ohio State next Monday. Neither side knows soccer from football, so who really cares. However, I have started muting the games I watch; I just cannot listen to the idiocy coming from the commentators box.
The first time I heard the speed option refered to as a "gimmick play" was also the first time I watched a game without any sound.

I happen to be an alumni of Boise State. I for one am very proud of Coach Peterson and the players. They outplayed and outcoached Oklahoma. Unfortunately, they did what they have done all year. Get a big lead, and then put it in cruise control. It almost cost them.
As far as the media, the same guys that were saying that they are a joke and don't play anyone, are now calling for a plus 1.
Why are playoffs so hard to figure out?

The media has nothing better to do than always make the good news bad so that they can keep the viewers on their toes and keep watching the crap they (media) create. The media has always been directed into keeping the negative alive so that we keep watching the fallout.Boise kicked butt reguardless if critics like it or not.I am excited for them and what it does to the BCS ratings.

The whole Boise St Vs [insert prominent football program here] situation seems similar to the AFL and NFL in the late 60's.
I started watching college football in the late 80's. Rutgers? Wake Forest?...even my beloved Badgers...all were just terrible year after year.
I wonder why the talent in college football is more spread out....USC excluded.

The media is just selling a story. It sounds better to turn Boise into Hickory High School that won with "trickeration" (there is no fake-announcer word I hate more) rather than by taking it to OU. OU is routinely unprepared for these games, and their coaching staff is wildly overrated. Boise's talent looked pretty good too, save for a couple true studs that play for OU.

I thought I was the only one . . . the only thing worse than watching a game with a guy who played 2 years of HS football 20 years ago and loves to display his 'knowledge' - is to listen to a game commented on by an ex-player turned broadcaster who never coached, only played one side of the ball, never attended another position meeting and yet feels he has to display his incredible lack of knowledge in a constant rant. I am so sick of hearing the ex-fullback talking about a cover 2 corner 'blowing coverage' when A WR beats the safety to the corner, or the ex-LB calling Power a Trap or Sweep . . . . My mute button is well-worn.

Are "trick" plays illegal?
What defines a "trick" play? Did a magician wave a wand and the ball suddenly appear in the endzone? Boise State's "trick" plays were well rehearsed and were executed perfectly. If there were any "tricks" in this game it was that OU ran a stretch play for the overtime TD after it ran it numerous times for nothing.

I agree, the media is awful. But keep in mind that the national media tries to talk to its audience as if they don't understand. I guess your best bet might be to listen to the local guys for games-some people may call them "homers" but at least they have somewhat of an idea of what a team is trying to do.

My pet peeve is the announcers calling every single short pass to the wide reciever a bubble screen.

Fox's announcers are pathetic, w/ the exception of Bradshaw and Long the other night.
I saw where the same crew that did the Fiesta Bowl are doing the Championship game. How disappointing.

Every HS coach in America will be installing the Statue of Liberty play next season. Isn't that the truth. I coach 8th grade football. Last season a coach ran one, my NT got through, smeered the QB, picked up the fumble, and raced 20 yards before being caught.
