I remember reading an article a few years ago about Long Beach Poly High. It stated that they had 3 counselors dedicated strictly to athletics. All athletes went through those counselors for class schedules every year. These counselors were responsible for making sure the athletes that were going to play their respective sports in college were registered for the Clearing House, had taken SAT/ACT, etc. Also they had profiles for each athlete for when recruiters came to the school. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar set up. We are in the process of trying to get something similar at our school.

Jeez! That would be nice. I would think that it's very rare since this is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing. Most programs that I know just have a coach who's the " recruiting coordinator" that does this for the players.

The nice part would be having enough quality athletes to where this position is a necessity! That hasn't been the case at any school I've worked for.

Our HC works with the counselors on making sure our "college" guys are taking the right courses and stuff. I'm responsible for having highlights, general media, and profiles available for our HC. It's only like 4 or 5 players every year (on good years) who have a shot at being "college level talent" anyway.
