Just wondering if there are any college coaches out there that could shed some light on the recruiting process. I have a SR that is a stud. I am busting my butt to try and get him some looks, but just not sure if I am doing things the right way or not.
I know its late in the process for a SR, but he is legit. We have never had anyone on our staff who focused on this aspect of our job, but I decided to take this on this season.
I've been making highlights for him and trying to send it out to the recruiting coordinators for each school. Is this what I should be doing or is there more that I could be doing?
He is right now receiving interest from some FCS schools and a few FBS schools.
I also have 2 Jrs that are potential D1 guys, should I already be sending their stuff out now? Half way through the season? End of the season?
Thanks for any and all help!

Hey Coach - I can't speak too much for helping out your senior stud. However, it would probably behoove you to build relationships with recruiting coordinators at schools in your state/region.
I know at a Big 10 school camp I attended in the summer there were tons of coaches who were there for the purpose of evaluating/recruiting talent. It could be beneficial for A) your kids to attend B) you and/or other members of your staff volunteering to build those connections.

Not a college coach but have spoken to many about this process:
1. Junior year is the most important year, IMO in terms of recruiting.
2. Guys want to see whole games not just highlights
3. Depending on the level, there are measureables that make things hard to look past. For example, if they play x position, they need to be at least y height, z weight, etc.
4. With the seniors, later in the process, there are D3 and NAIA schools that look to fill guys late and are practically giving money away.
Hopefully somebody else on the board can help you out further. Best of luck
