Coaches,
Let's leave personal feelings about the Patriots, Bill Belichick, etc. out of this please......
I just watched "Do Your Job", an NFL Network documentary on the 2014 Patriots, and I absolutely loved it.
There were a ton of things that you can relate to your own team, but I especially liked how they approached that Kansas City game...........don't worry about halftime adjustments, start competing, and how after that game, Belichick knew he had a team, even though the media talking heads were ready to bury them.
Interesting stuff.

sorry, this was a weak fart of a production....just more NFL fluff when it could've been insightful. Hard Knocks has more behind-the-scenes perspective than this one offered. If it featured more coach's meetings and Ernie Adams it would've been something to watch. This was a waste of time and spent the majority of film on blue team vs red team slo-mo fan footage and hyperventilating over ball drama.

I wish I could have enjoyed this, but is wasn't for me... it was for the guy in the pats jersey and the beer can hat yelling at the bar when "his team" does something good or bad. I'm disappointed that they do more fan related stuff, but I understand that it's where the money is. There are more fans then coaches.

Thought it was a turd as well. Not much exclusive behind the scenes access like they hyped. Was hoping for a bit more behind the scenes as they hyped it up, maybe some meetings or position meetings or something other than stuff that has been reported and shown over and over.

Maybe thats what thew me off. The ads for it made me think it was going to be another Football Life of Bill Bellichick. Instead, it had everything to do with the Pats playoff run and ball PSI. I wanted to like it...it was the only football airing Wednesday. I think there would be a ton of good footage if they spent the day with Ernie Adams, reviewing what he actually does in a month

Hmmmmm. I see a lot of people I usually agree with who didn't love it like I did.
What I saw, maybe between the lines, is how a guy (belichick) handles his team and staff in an unbelievable manner.
His pragmatism and openness with his coaches. His pushing to learn and try new things.
Also, how he can sense the pulse of his team and know what to do to maximize effectiveness.
Dunno, I liked it.

In their defense, ESPN is in the business of entertainment of the general public not us coaches. One of the reasons I don't watch ESPN much anymore. Just sayin... Please tell me you watch ESPN to watch a game. Understand not watching the shows or sportscenter or whatever.

Bill Simmons liked the documentary. I haven't seen it but I can't disagree with him.

I liked it. There was some good stuff in there: Belichick trusts his staff to take ownership in the organization. The decision to take out a streaky player when he was getting in his own way. The foresight of having a GL package installed with 3 DBs to match up an offensive GL set with 3 WRs. Knowing to have an unbalanced formation the defense had to prepare for and finding ways to disguise it to get others open. Belichick quoting the old maxim "Players win games, coaches lose them" in regards to how he handles the media. There was definitely good stuff in there. A lot of BS too, but this wasn't for our demographic.

I'll tell you what really stood out to me, and it was in the first 60 seconds of the show......Bellichick needs to wear a bra! Good lord man, lose some weight or strap those things down!

I thought we weren't criticizing Bellichick... Anyhow, I think like dubber said, I like it, but like brophy said, there was a LOT of BS. I won't just smack it down b/c of the BS, as you're right, the fan is king when it comes to football, but if you did read between the lines you got some decent insight. It could have been MUCH MUCH better IMO. Duece

I have a buddy who, like clockwork, will post on Facebook every Tuesday bitching about Gruden on MNF. Fans want a glimpse behind the curtain, not a plunge through it.

I thought it was okay and about what I expected. To go along with some of the other points, I'm not sure why people would have expected more. Quite frankly, most fans don't give two poops about the actual X and O stuff.

I'd b!tch about Gruden...dude looks too weird for me. Plus he gets a bit hokey...lol. Yes, you're right, the NFL Network would be out of business pretty quick if they catered only to coaches... Duece

I agree the X's and O's was sparse, but that was not really what interested me as a coach.
It was more team dynamics.
