Class 2A 2nd Round playoff game in Illinois...Lena-Winslow vs. Forreston.
Two of the best teams in Class 2A played a tough, physical, and hard-fought game that ended with Lena having the ball on the Forreston 10 yard line with about 1:30 left on the clock and a 14-7 lead. Rather than trying to score another TD or even try a FG with their all-State PK to pad the final score, the Lena coaches instead chose to take a knee and run out the clock.
Thought this was a very classy move and was really a nice show of respect by the Lena coaches for the effort the Forreston players and coaches gave.

That is class, but also smart football. Why risk a fumble or blocked kick when you got the win locked up.
Sounded like it was a heck of a game ....

That was certainly part of it, but you see it a lot...coaches trying to score rather than being smart and sitting on a lead. Good coaching, most definately. It was a great game, especially if you are a defensive-minded football person. Couldn't have been more than 300 yards of offense in the entire game.
