We are going to a four way scrimmage Saturday. So I'll have my kids from about 11 till 7 or so. We won't have time to feed them a meal so they are going to need to eat snacks during down times. There is always peanut butter but I'm looking for other ideas for snacks to keep their energy up.

Saltines and peanut butter with chocolate milk was my perennial post practice snack. If cost is a concern you can cut the chocolate milk with white milk and it doesn't really affect the taste. If you have a bulk barn you can get a lot of dried fruit and nuts and granola for cheap. Knockoff Gatorade powder is cheap. Cheese and apples are a good option too.

You make up a mess of PBJs before hand, ice them down then they can grab them as wanted. The granola/trail mix is always popular bc of the MnMs, and the no name knock off is pretty cheap. Fruit is a great suggestion, but is kind of hard to deal with: bananas getting mushed, hot mealy apples, peeling oranges, etc... Get a mix of the fruit for nutritional purposes. Grapes are an easy grab and go fruit.
They key as always for performance purposes, make sure they eat heartily the night before and eat big breakfast that morning. The stuff you'll be providing will just help keep off the hunger.
