I always get a feeling of excitement and dread. Excited about the start of out season, but dread about how ready we are going to be.

Our camp is Monday-Wednesday this week, practice starts August 7. Only bad thing (besides, like tog says, being away from the bride) is it means getting close to start of school again, too.

We've been having workouts three nights a week since july 5th and coaching the local all-star game after those. So its been 4 hours a night for three nights a week already. I am ready for a break! LOL

I'm with blb and phantom...I'm more an excited about the season, but the thought of school starting back keeps me grounded. The only saving grace is that we play 2 games before the start of school. So there is some silver lining.

I can't wait. We have camp this week and practice starts the 9th. I do dread being away from my wife and 1 yr. old son (and soon to be 2nd son in December). Plus, I hate the thought of going back to school, but I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for this.
I can't say I am ready for College Football because Illinois sucks. However, the Chiefs signed Ty Law today so my interest is definitely piqued for the NFL.

My thoughts exactly.
It's ALWAYS football season...just longer between games sometimes.
I also agree (just wish we had even a longer time between quarterfinal loss last year and week 1 this year). After 7 on 7, I hope we do not have to rely on our passing game...or our defense.

I'm real excited....though, I am doing what I can to PLAN the season as best I can.
Teaching "our" guys is the easy part - scheduling what games I'm going to be watching is the difficult part (regional HS, College, NFL,....then what Televised games to watch & record)
** Hey - just a question. I know NFL teams don't let you bring in video cameras....but could you be alright bringing in one of those small DV cameras to film endzone shots in a game?

We start Monday, July 31st. I really feel good about our starting core, after that, the talent level drops off quite a bit... Got to coach em' up!

We are wrapping up our team camp at my new school. It has been awesome. We are a small school (about 250 kids in grades 9-12), and we had 52 at camp each day. Great attitude and work ethic with some very good size, decent speed, and a real hard-nosed approach. The only bad thing is that we don't start practice until August 14, but then IT'S ON!

I can't wait. We have A TON OF SPEED THIS YEAR! Should be fun to get these kids the ball in the open field.
I've also got a Junior starting QB that is picking up the offense and his reads extremely well. I got him for 2 more years...could be a good one if we can get the undersized OL to hold their own.

I'm am as ready as I'm going to get. We have coaching convention next week, then staff meetings. Bad thing is we had Spring Ball here so we can't start until the 14th so we will be in school 2 days before we even start practice, Ugh!!!!!!!!! Dread is the same as TOG, being away from my wife and my kids.
