Here is the scenario. Our school system is going through some changes...with those changes athletics will obviously have to adjust. With that being said...Official 1st day is Aug 3 I believe, school starts Aug 11...with no true "2 a days" that leaves us 1 week to practice before school starts..usually it is 2...In our meeting coming up HC is considering all suggestions to see what will work for all of us. My suggestion is install offense during June & July and use the 1st week as defensive install and offense review...thoughts?

Why not install both? Why put the defense behind?

It's hard to practice Defense fully when you can't hit, so we spent more time on Offense in the Summer.
When we got In Season that changed - we practiced Defense about a half hour more each week.
You certainly can install alignments, stunts-blitzes, coverages etc. in June-July without full pads.

I agree that it's hard to do some stuff on d when you can't hit. But you can do pursuit. Formation adjustments. Most of your individual stuff (DL may be harder) teach tackling on dummies 7 on 7 etc.... I understand that and why you may do a little more on O. Just don't understand why you'd leave the defense that far behind. Of course, I am a DC. Lol

School's not even out here and we don't have spring ball but about 75% of our defense is installed. Of course, a lot of what the OP can do depends on his state's rules.

I did too when I had a 2nd Semester "Football Class."

My bad fellas, just checked back on this post. In June/July we get 12 football related days that involve helmet & shoulder pads. What we did was have a 3 day camp last week and installed our base RPO and defense base call. It is looking good because we know we have 9 football related days in July because next week is our mandated week off. We should be able to get most in before Aug 3. Appreciate the insight.
