I coach at a small 8 man school and have been there for 5 years. My first year was purely volunteer work and we went 0-9. My second year I began to get paid for my time and we went 0-10 but could have went 3-7. My third year we improved and go 3-7 but should have went 5-5. My fourth year we go 3-7 again but lost 3 very close games by a total of 6 points and we should have went 6-4. Well last season it started out like a dream come true. We come out for first week of practice and we have 45 kids out for football. Never have I seen 45 kids come out at our school. Thru process of elimination we get to a core of 28. Well we go 9-1 and not only make the playoffs for the first time in 10 years but we also get to host a home playoff game and that hasn't happened in 22 years. But that losing bug bit us again and we lose 46-36. I think it may finally be changing around here tho because now that the kids and community have tasted victory they thirst for it and want it. The school used to be the last school you would call to set up a game with because they would knock the crap out of you and go on to the next team who stood in their way. But the past 12 years it has become a homecoming team. But maybe now we can start a new chapter here and we can get back on top once again.
