Coaches, I would like opinions on this matter.
We play amateur football here in Brazil, and a new team just appeared out of nowhere in my city. They just started and don't have any kind of real knowledge about football (they think they do).
My point is, i have been discussing this with the other coaches on my team, if we should play against them before our league starts.
I really want to kick their a$$es cause they really are annoing and can "steal" some possible players from us (those who would come to our team if there wasn't other team)
I know we would crush their souls, wouldn't even be fair, but i think we could use it as motivators to the new guys on the team.
Thoughts?

A win is a win (unless you are undefeated champs every year). No one remembers WHO you beat. 1-0 is always better than 0-1.

The HC I used to work for had a philosophy that it was your own fault if you don't start 1-0. Might as well get a warm-up in.

Just an idea; if you have a local rival that can poach players from your squad, why would you NOT just beat them like a govt. mule? What do you have to lose except the quality of your squad? Are you going to be hated for smacking them down like they stole your little sister's cherry?
If you're trying to be a good Samaritan, then that is another thing. To be quite honest, we try to beat the 'Sisters of the Blind' on our schedule as bad as we can. Especially at the lower levels. We don't want them to think they ever have a chance when they see us on the schedule.

Since here we don't have a HC, it is more like a shared responsability, so we have to have common sense. But other coaches don't think this will be helpful to us in any way. I know I just want to put them in their places, beating the crap out of them. By the way, they had the balls to offer us to use their defense as a way of training our offense. This would take one of our practices off and we have 2 games on the first week of may. What should we do? Accept or send them to hell?

After you 'rip out their hearts' be sure to shake their hands and tell them "good game". Ahhhh, you gotta love the 'brotherhood' of the 'coaching fraternity'.............
