Coaches, We do a fundraiser at the HS level and the MS level that covers most of our costs. The community has been very good in our fundraising efforts but are being stretched thin by all the programs in our community that fundraise. Our booster club has suggested we target our football alumni, some who live in the area but many live all over the country. We have a pretty active alumni organization and they donate half of all the proceeds from an annual golf tournament so they do their part. Our booster club is suggesting that we have a large board created with those who donate at various levels to the program posted at our stadium. The thought was we could either do a one time large donation board or do an annual donation. Does anyone do anything like this? What has worked and what has not? Any incite would be appreciated.

The insight that I could you is what we do with our alumni. We ask for alumni sponsorships and list all of that years sponsors on the back of our camp t-shirts. We are a small school and raised over $1,500 last year. We asked for $10 if they wanted their name on it and another $15 if they wanted a shirt.. I use Facebook, mailings and newspapers to spread the word about the alumni donations requests.

That is a pretty good idea. Any others?

I have done this before, and it is a good fundraiser. We asked for $10 per player, and got a good response. For the $10, we would list the years that they played, their jersey # and name, and their position. I used an Excel spreadsheet to organize the names and years, and printed it off and took it to the sign maker.
The sign was made from a heavy vinyl (they did it with the wording in the school's color on a white background and added graphics, and I could take it down after every game (we shared a stadium). The sign cost me $100, and we made $1000. The next year we did one that included all sports, and made $3000 (we hung it by the main entrance to the stadium where everyone could see it-the alumni loved it). Will do it again this year at the school that I'm at now.
