Living in no particular order: Lovie Smith- even though I hate the Bears, I love his demeanor and poise Jimbo Fisher/Rich Rodriguez- great offensive minds Bill Belichick- great football mind and I love how his team plays
Dead in no particular order: Vince Lombardi- excellence Landry- class Bear Bryant- toughness
Coaches that I've met, but would love to sit down with a notebook and be the giddy little school boy: Denny Creehan- Master Yoda of the Wing T Gregg Perry- Obi Wan Kenobi of the Wing T, and an absolute great guy

Interesting...
Dead - Rockne, Lombardi, Paul Brown
Living - By going to clinics I have already enjoyed talking to so many great coaches such as Walsh, Osborne, Deberry, Robinson, Holtz, Raymond, Switzer, ...
so I'm going to go with those I haven't had the pleasure to see (yet!) Gagliardi, Meyer, any of Buddy Ryan's boys...

There are some incredible names on everbody's list and I'll probably repeat some. Also notice nobody can name just three because there are so many great coaches.....so I'll take all of the above listed coaches....lol 1. Bill Walsh (WCO guru) 2. Sid Gilman ("founder" of modern passing game, creator of the "route tree", forefather of passing guru's like Walsh, Vermiel, Martz, Coryell, etc. this dude has forgot more football than any of us will ever know) 3. Bill Yeoman (creator of the Split Back Veer) 4. Norm Chow (probably knows the passing game better than anybody) 5. Urban Meyer (gotta love the innovation and versatility) 6. Rich Rodriquez (spread option, hey, its what we do) 7. Fisher DeBerry (wishbone/flexbone, great disciplined coach) 8. Mike Martz (met him a long time ago, but would be great to discuss routes, patterns and timing) Dead coaches? Heck, I could spend a few lifetime's talking with the above coaches, I'll talk to all the dead guys hopefully at a much later date.... but topping that list would be: Bo Woody Bear Eddie Robinson

Wow, lots of great responses and rationale!! For me: Living-- Bobby Bowden (those of you who feel he let FSU turn into a renegade program should read the Bowden Way to get his perspective. Remember how he was accused of double standards by keeping Peter Warrick on the team and Coles off it for the same offense? Well, by his team rules, he DID treat them the same!) Urban Meyer (Would love to discuss both the spread run game and program building with him) Joe Pa (Would love to know how and why he still does it and does it well) Dead-- Halas (same rationale as previously listed--Papa Bear!!) Bear Bryant (How true is Junction Boys ) Bo Schembechler (I've always been a huge Michigan fan)

living 1) Pete Carroll - He wasn't so hot at the pro level but hes been dominating the college football since he was hired. I would ask him how he recruited and developed such great talent (Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush, etc) and how he was able to effectively use them in his offensive schemes.
2) Rich Rodriguez - I'm always in search of knowledge on the spread-options offense and there is no better source than him in my opinion.
3) Jimmy Johnson - Jimmy Johnson is probably the most under-rated coach in history. He was the first coach to win a national championship and the Super Bowl, and that was after he took over a team that was practically dead.
dead 1) Vince Lombardi - Who wouldnt want to meet with the Vince Lombardi?
2) Tom Landry - Besides creating the 43 defense and bringing the shotgun to the pro's, Tom Landry was the finest dresser in the history of football.
3) Weeb Ewbank - Weeb Ewbank worked with some of the best QBs in football history, Id like to ask him how he dealt with Joe Namath and Johnny Unitas.

Dead- Walter Camp- might have had the biggest impact on the game
Tom Landry- my favorite coach of all time- class and innovation
Rockne- would like to get a dose of his charisma
Alive-
Parcells- maybe as close to meeting one of the old timers (Lombardi, etc) It would be interesting to see what he is like in person. Plus, his football knowledge is among the best
Belichick- seems aloof, but would like to learn x's and o's from him
Holtz- Would be fun to chat with, pretty humorous. Knows football and shows you that the little guy can make it in the big time
