Coaches,
Interested to here ideas on how much offense to get in by week 1? Also, how much is added per week or do you just add new twists and formations. Thanks!

Do you schedule any cupcakes?
We open the season with as little as possible. Well, we may learn a lot of the offense, but prefer not to "show" it unless we are forced.

Focus on your base offense and add from there.

We'll have virtually everything in by the first scrimmage. For us thet's the end of the second week of practice.

Like Phantom, we have our entire offense in right now. We'll start our first practice with review. We will add weekly wrinkles, but the base offense is done. What we show in game 1 will depend on how the game goes.

We put all of our run game in and about 75% of our passing game in week 1. Is it perfected.... no way, and then week 2 is to work all the bugs out and get all the rules and assignments down by the first scrimmage.

We'll have everything in from a run game standpoint and our quick passing game. We have tons of variations in routes off play action so we add those as the season goes. But all the base stuff is in. Not perfected, but available.

We have probably 90% of our offense in after first week of practice. Then we review and polish week two, in addition to getting ready for scrimmage.
After scrimmage emphasis shifts to game one game plan and situations.
We go fast first week, but are aided by six days' of camp in July.
Only things we don't get in first week are two-minute offense procedure, kill the clock, two-point plays, gadgets, maybe some pass pattern variations.

We have our whole offense in basically. Like others have said, depending on who we play things can be changed. The thing we want our kids to learn before the first game is the base offense and its concepts. If they understand that, then they will know what to do for the most part even if we add some new things in throughout the season.

I think another way to look at this is how much of your offense can you run well the first week. We always have our entire offense in but we try to focus in on a handful of plays and be able to run them well that first week and then build from there.

Our base offense: @ 4-6 runs, 2-3 passes, 4-8 formations; with everything coordinated.

Our base offense: 8 runs, 12 passes, 7 formations. Add variations to each week

We'll have about 75% of our run 50% of our pass in. We just want to focus on our primary stuff - trying to lay down a strong base before adding progressions. By the 3rd game we generally have all of it in and then add variations according to each opponent.

blb How do you run your camps, i.e. home or away, do you charge the kids anything, who is it open to. Seems like it would give you a big jump for the start of two a days.
thanks
