Seeing if there are any other coaches going to this national clinic. It is a great place to get your kid's names out to other college coaches.
Also, seeing if there is anybody landing in LAX on Saturday before the clinic...it would make going down to Anaheim allot cheaper if we got a shuttle van.

I am there, wife and daughters coming and doing the park thing. We are flying into Long Beach. One of my highlights of the year is the AFCA, I find it very motivating.

To all coaches PM me and I will send you my cell number if you want to meet up. Our banquet for football is on Jan 6th (yes we always do it this late) but I am about 10 mins from the convention center. I will as the wife about a hall pass for Monday or Tue if coaches want to meet up and get a beer and talk football. If you are in the area on Saturday night let me know in advance and we can plan to meet up as well. I will not be attending but would love to hear from any coaches and talk some ball.

For the AFCA convention rookie: do NOT yell "HEY COACH" in the lobby. 2,000 coaches stop their conversations and look directly at you.

I will be a rookie at the AFCA and I am jacked about the experience. Two quick questions.
1) What is the best way to get kids names out there to the college teams without annoying them.
2) Do schools look for GA's and do they hire on the spot.
Thank you
ps. Looking forward to having beers and talking football all night, nothing I enjoy more in the off season then beer and football conversation.

Concerning #2, there will be a resume board that has probably 1500 resumes on it. Good luck with that!!

I've only attended several but my impression is 1) this is not really the venue "to get kids names out there" and 2) unless you know someone who can get you a sit down with a coach concerning a GA slot you are basically out of luck.

Thanks coaches for the quick responses to my questions. I am looking forward to hear Mike Singletary speak. Who's on top of your list to hear?
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Every year I have went I have given a couple of kids names, but it has never been planned. For instance, eating one of the meals with a stanger, someone from a unique school or a fairly close one that I was unfamiliar with and I think of 1 of my players that might bea good fit and I write down their info. D3 type guys.

Singletary was very good 3 or 4 years ago. Excited to hear Dr. Tom. Curious to hear what Rich Rod has to say about MI, Meyer was interesting when he spoke right after accepting the FL job.
Does anyone know anything about these HS guys? Speaker: Rob Younger, Sweet Home (Ore.) H.S.
Speaker: Bruce Rollinson, Mater Dei (Calif.) H.S.
Speaker: Jim Bradley, Mayfield (N.M.) H.S.

Remember the AFCA has BUZZ SESSIONS where there is no agenda for the coaches but rather you can just ask questions for the time alloted, I believe 30 minutes. It is good because you can ask what you want to know. HAVE FUN!
