We won today, 43 hours after opening kickoff. We had a Thursday game that was suspended by lightning. Because there was another game in our city stadium on Friday, our game was continued today (Saturday) at noon. It was 90 degrees at kickoff with high humidity. and not a cloud in the sky. Tough day but we won. The problem: We have another Thursday game next week.

What's the deal with the Thursday games?

What's the deal with the Thursday games? There are ten schools in our league. One is a county school with their own stadium. Five are in one city and share one city stadium and four are in another, with one city stadium. So, nine schools in two stadiums. There are Saturday games but they don't draw flies and it's awfully hot during the day. Everybody hates Saturday night games so there are Thursday games.

fantomI HATE game suspensions. Absolutely abhor them. Throws off the mojo, the prep for next week, the whole friggin weekend! I's worse when it happens AFTER kickoff. That drives me insane. There was a game in Indiana that was suspended with a minute or two to go in the 4th quarter. Team A had the ball, up 5, 3rd and 11, and that is where they started on Saturday! Can you imagine the game planning that went into scenario on both sides for that one play?! I would have probably made my offense run that third down play 200 times before I let them leave Friday night!

We had one suspended in the middle of the second quarter on the 2nd, we don't finish it til the 25th. At least it's a home game and we don't have to travel.

heard about a game somewhere here in NC that was suspended at 1 am after a number of half hour delays. this is the kicker (no pun intended) though. the game was suspended in the 4th quarter with less than a minute left, after a team scored to put them only a score behind, lining up for the onsides kick. as stated previously, the officials eventually called the game at 1am for the next day. everyone shows up, they kick the onsides, the other team grabs it, goes to offense and then takes a knee to end it. ha ha, imagine being involved in that.
Our game last night was postponed for this Monday. Then we have to turn around and play on Friday. Charlotte Meck won't play games on Saturday. We wanted to, but they are the home team and they make the call. Our opponent doesn't care anyways, they have a bye next week. Sweet.....
