I am the stat guy, equipment manager, and hudl guy for Fern Creek HS in Louisville, Ky. Friday 8-22 we were supposed to open at home against state 6a runner up, we are also 6a. Friday's forecast was just scattered thunderstorms, but a front moved in with lightning about 7:00pm 30 minutes prior to kickoff, stadium cleared, game was postponed at 9:30 due to continuing lightning. We are set to restart tonight at 8pm, about 7:30 another storm front moves in and about 9pm, game was cancelled. In Ky we only get 1 bye week and the two teams byes don't match, the Ad's, Assistant Principals etc at the game said we couldn't play on Sunday. So game cancelled without rescheduling. Both teams can try to find a makeup game but unlikely. Later tonight we learned via twitter that two other area public schools are resuming Sunday evening, and a third is playing a team from another county (away game) and will finish on Monday night (they got in 1.5 qtrs before storm). the storms this weekend were unreal, normally systems are smaller and run East - North East up Ohio Valley from St Louis, thru Louisville to Cincinnati. These storms both nights ran almost straight south from Indianapolis thru Louisville to Tenn.

Blame global warming.
We had a Thursday night game many years ago that ended in a tie. As the officials were about to start the overtime coin flip a police officer ran onto the field and said we were under a tornado warning and was ordering everyone under the stadium. Within 10 minutes it started lightning and blowing like crazy. After 45 min of this and the forecast that it would not end for at least another hour, we decided to call it a tie.
The next morning we learned from our state association that our game could not end in a tie if it could be finished before Monday. So Saturday at noon we played the overtime.
We went three and out and had our FG blocked.
They ran two plays and got to our three yard line. On third down they kicked the game winning FG.
Talk about a long Saturday! We left the game and started working on next week's opponent.
