Guys, they threw a real screw into our schedule and we play Friday, September 26th and then Wednesday, October 1st.
The team we play Wednesday is a wing-t team that killed us last year.
We have three practice days; Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. My plan is helmets only on Saturday with a defensive focus and special teams ; Monday in shells with an offensive focus and Tuesday helmets only as a regular walk thru day with an added period of defense.
Our opponent also plays Friday but has to travel to the middle of the state while we play our Friday game at home. We are doublewing, they are traditional wing-t and are pretty equal talent wise.
My idea is the fresher team will win since we both run such physical styles of offenses.
I'd like to hear how you guys would handle this situation for some new ideas.

One thing we've done is include some of what you plan to do for the Wednesday game into your game plan and practice for the Friday game, if possible. The kids don't have to know that you're really getting ready for Wednesday.

In Iowa, teams play their Week 9 games on Friday, then have to turn around and play the first playoff game on a Wednesday. We had helmet and shoulder pad practice on Saturday with some film thrown in. We have hudl so the film trade was possible that quickly. Sunday and Monday we went ahead with light but full-padded practice and then Tuesday was the typical pre-game walk through. I worried about our kids being in pads those weekend days, but they handled it just fine. It's important to keep the practices--especially the Sat and Sun ones--pretty short and sweet.

Ive had a couple Fri then Thurs. I think you have an advantage if simply: Do what you do. If you are a team that runs your system, and doesnt change, install, etc. every week you will benefit. By that point in the season practice will become what its supposed to be, an opportunity to get reps and stay crisp and on point.
I would watch film of ourself on sat with the kids, then get Hudl posted of them ASAP. Monday rep seeing their top stuff and note who their studs are, but for the most part just run a normal practice. Tuesday, walk thru, remind them of their scouting reports (just like a regular Thurs but two days earlier); but in the end the team that best executes its base stuff will be successful.
