This is the 1st year we have done one, and we collected 735 food Items in 3 days. I am very proud of my players.
I was wondering if anyone else has ideas for during the season, I would like to do something else.
I think it is important for players to learn to give back to the community that helps support them friday nights.
Please let me know what has worked / not worked. Yes during season we are allowed to collect money for a community service project, if that helps.
Thanks

We let our seniors pick what they want to do for community service. Most recently, we have volunteered with special olympics, set up tables/chairs and clean-up for a community bbq and set up seating and clean-up for community pancake feeds.

We have helped the elderly paint their house, done the "Adopt A Highway" thing and also run a carnival for the elementaries in the spring.

I have always liked for players to go to the local elementary and read to students or do some type of project with them. This allows the players to work with younger kids and also the young kids get a big kick out of the “star” player working with them.
