Does anybody do an all day camp at school the first week of practice? Like practice, classroom stuff, weights, then practice again. If you do I would like to see a sample schedule. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been at a place where we did it for 2 days, kinda like a "training camp experince".
8 am-report time, check in, paper work etc. 8:30-11:30 First practice (SHELLS) 11:45-12:30 Lunch (provided by Booster Club)Also had extra Gatorades,Water bottles for purchase. 12:30-12:50 Offensive position meetings. 12:50-1:10 Defensive position meetings. 1:10-1:30 Full team meeting 1:30-3:00 Movie in gym. Lights off, quiet time. Players played on phones, napped whatever. 3:15-4:40 Weights (Two groups. JV lifts/Varsity walks through/switch) 4:45-5:30 Dinner (Parents cooked out) 5:45-7:00 Practice #2 (Helmets) 7:15-7:45 Guest speaker 8:00- 10:00 Snack, fellowship with teammates, movie, Madden (whatever). 10:00 wrap up games, etc. 10:30- Lights out 7am (DAY 2) Wake up 7:30-8:15- breakfast (local Hardees donated for us) 8:30-11:00 PRACTICE 3 (helmets) 11:00-11:30 TEAM MEETING See you the next day. The kids all brought bags and stuff to sleep in the gym. Supervision is the key. We had 5 coaches on duty the entire day/night. We did this two years in a row, but we felt what we may be gaining in bonding time, we lost in practice the next day, because the kids were so run down. We switched to one practice of 8am-11:30 Two 90 minute sessions with 30 minute break in the middle. Then film from 11:30-12. Seemed to work better for us.

Karaoke, discuss goals, discuss traditions, discuss fears, alumni guest speakers, movie night, minute-to-win-it, charades, madden/NCAA tourney. An HC I worked for had nightly activities that built a close team in this order: Sun: goals Mon: fears Tue: minute-to-win-it Wed: karaoke Thur: movie We sprinkled some of the other things in except for never trying the madden/NCAA tourney.

We can have a camp the week before doubles if we don't have any protective equipment on. We go for three hours in the evening. I have a friend who only does three days but, they go out of to a camp and do three full days plus team building, etc.

We've done a sleepover and the activity that got the kids the goofiest was skits by position groups where one of the kids would pretend to be the position coach.

One team building activity we did in the past was played chicken. Had a lineman put a back on his shoulders. The back had one of those foam pool noodles and an egg taped to his head. To win instead of knocking the guy off the shoulders you had to crush the other guys egg. The kids had a blast with it.
We have also done a frying pan toss for distance.
