What do you do? Dance Ice Ice Baby? Sing Clap it and You Know it? Lead a Chant?

We're pretty short and sweet after a game no matter if we win or lose. In two years at my current program, I have yet to hear our HC's address to our team, because he's done by the time I get down from the press box!

What do you do? Dance Ice Ice Baby? Sing Clap it and You Know it? Lead a Chant? We kind of act happy. When we win the kids sing and joke on the bus. When we lose it's quiet. We don't have any particular ritual. To be honest, I never thought about it.

First place I coached at, the DC would lead the players into the locker room ... and have everyone circle around him and lead a chant that I can no longer recall. Currently, we gather in the EZ ... coaches say a few words, tell them to enjoy the win, make good decisions tonight and we will see them tomorrow morning at 6:45 am in the weight room. Always try to grab a number of players that might need some words of encouragement or kids that stepped up huge. If we don't catch them that night, then the next morning we will talk with them.

Shake hands, say a few words, go home, upload/watch film. The varsity does jumping jacks after their wins. HC seems okay with it. I hate it. The JV tried to after their first game and I shut that down immediately. "You came here and took care of business. Ain't no need for a song and dance."

Gotta teach kids how winners win. Winners don't celebrate big unless they win something that matters.

After big wins our HC kicks runs through the door and does this loud rooster call and dance he calls the "{censored} walk" he is a unique individual, but the kids go absolutely nuts over it. When I played there 6 years ago and still today that I'm coaching, every coach walks around and hugs every player and makes a few comments about the game. I think it's awesome that that has always been done even after a coaching change.

I didn't realize it would censor that word. I wasn't being vulgar I promise. It's another word for chicken dance ha

Gotta teach kids how winners win. Winners don't celebrate big unless they win something that matters. To the victors goes the spoils. I believe you teach kids how to win and lose with class on the field, but when you are with your team (family) in private, you enjoy the fruits of your labor. One of the reasons football is losing kids is because of coaches who never incorporate "fun" into any aspect of what they are doing. At some point kids need to be kids. After a win, in private (behind closed doors), kids need to be allowed to enjoy all the "work" they have contributed to the success. And in my opinion, everything matters.

In a locker room or bus, when not in front of the other team, have a ball. Just don't do it on the field at someone else's expense.

Strippers and beer! We act like we have won a game before, how about that. Exactly. Most of our kids are gone before I even get in to the locker room after a game. We shake the other team's hand, meet on the field, I usually say some stuff, remind them not to be idiots over the weekend, lay out what Monday is going to look like and we break out. As they walk down our sideline they shake our crowd's hands. If it's a road game, their parents sign them out and we are usually left with about 15 kids off our 45 kid team. Something they've been doing long before I got here and they'll probably be doing long after I'm gone.

We shake hands with the other team. Then we form a huddle and kids chant V-I-C-T-O-R-Y victory victory victory. Then we talk to them. We break it out on Family. Then we go in. Pretty basic. No dancing or singing.

WTF is that supposed to mean? Maybe if you weren't such an ass you'd realize there are different ways to do things.

We don't celebrate much....however, I volunteer Coach for my daughter's soccer team at church and after we beat the team in our league that has been undefeated for 2 years, they threw cups of cold water at me (they couldn't lift the cooler...lol)...I know that is not exactly on topic but it was pretty funny.

Whether win or lose we do the same thing. After shaking the opponents hands we gather, as a team, in the endzone. Each coach is allowed to address the team and the HC goes last. The message is usually the good and bad of the game, weekend plans, and any additional info the kids may need. We end with a prayer.

If we win at home, we will go down to the locker room. We have do a chant, and then a player writes "1-0" on the board.

We sit in the coaches room and have a few drinks until our DL coach passes out on the couch. Same thing if we lose.

They are way to hard to get (Wins) not to enjoy them. We do it with class, but enjoy every one of them. The work and agony that goes into every Saturday to Friday night each week is way to painful and stressful to act like a stiff and give the "I am a winner, act like you have been there before" garbage. The truth is YOU HAVENT!!! What makes this game so cool (And maddening) is each weeks plan is unique from the last due to the uniqueness of our last opponent and how we match up against them. They all are different and equally tough to get, so lighten up and ENJOY because Saturday morning is coming!!!!
