I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on the adequate height and weight of a TE in a pro style I offense.

I've had success with kids around 5'10"-6'0" and 170-180, more rangy receiver types if they have some grit in them to block and have hands. Obviously the ideal is bigger.

Probably the better question what is the minimum height and weight for an effective TE?

Here is what we will have next year at TE. All 3 are pretty good, so we plan on using one of them as a FB/H back type.
6'-0 190 Sr 5'-11 205 Sr 6'-4 210 Jr

Ideally, your TE is the power forward on the basketball team. 6'-0" +/-, 175#. This is just ideal, reality is that football would throw his jump shot off and cause him to get into foul trouble so he will likely be in the gym than on the field.

Our two DW tight ends (both returning next fall) are 6'3 240 (center on basketball team) and 5'10 185 (forward on basketball team). They really don't worry about jump shots as they play basketball with a DW style!

This past year we had a 5'9" 190 lb TE beat out a 6'5" 225 lb kid. Just tougher and better blocking technique. (Of course, the 6'5" kid is back and we are working our tails off to make him a player.)
