Coaches, I thought I would ask you guys for advice. I teach and coach in Milwaukee. We have the largest school district in the state with over 100,000 students. We have 14 high schools-yet we have only 4 stadiums to play in. The school I coach at has the field space for a stadium. In fact we had a new track put in about 2-3 years ago by the district. However we have no score board, no seating, no p.a. system etc. Because of this no varsity games can be held here. I have advocated for a new stadium and my principal supports it, as does the district athletic administrator. However there are no funds available. Any plans I have must be met by funds I raise. To get the project off the ground I realisticly need at least 50K-100K would be ideal. Obviously car washes, lift-a-thons, and other fundraisers couldn't do a number like this. As for a booster club, well, I started one this year-the school did not have one and it is in its very early stages. Here's the question: Do you guys know of any grants available that I could apply for? Does the NFL do anything? If so, who could I contact? Has anybody attempted this before? I would appreciate any and all advice. I am organing a nice cover letter right now to hit up local buisnesses and industry - but I don't know how successful that will be. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. email: coachwallack@gmail.com team website: www.hamiltonfootball.net
