Does anyone do a theme night for their home games? We have five games and are in the early stages of planning the following:
Senior Night/Pink Out Military Appreciation Night Teacher Appreciation Night Canned Food Drive
Needing one more. Any suggestions???

What about student appreciation night? Give students some type of incentive to attend the game. Also you could do a pal or whatever youth football lg you have appreciation. You could have them play a few snaps at half time or have a team run out and have a celebration.

I really like the idea and would like to do this. Do you mind sharing what you have done?

At every one of our home games, one of our youth teams dresses in their game uniforms (full gear), and they go through the pre-game warm-up with our varsity team. They come out of the locker room with us, they do all of the dynamic warm-up with our guys, they go through the position drills with our guys, and then when our offense is running plays on air, they rotate in every few plays and run their own play. Kids love it, parents love it, community loves it, and it gives us another opportunity to remind our varsity guys that little eyes are always watching them. This is one of the best things we do.

This past year we had the following: -Youth Night -Breast Cancer -Community Service Night (the govt just shutdown so we let anyone with a govt agency badge in for free; we had the Nat'l Guard air drop the game ball; and we recognized the seniors' favorite teachers) -Senior night -Homecoming

I think you need a youth program appreciate/recognition night.

Failed to mention the youth recognition night. Our youth kids get in free to all games so long as they wear their jersey and are accompanied by an adult. We do a night where they are recognized at halftime and they create the tunnel for us before the game and at halftime. They usually get to sit in the endzone during that game. Like the idea of having the game ball airdropped in.

Football Alumni Night - former players recognized and on the field Civil Service Night - recognize police, fire, mailmen, etc. Academic Club Night - student academic clubs set up booths/tables to share with community what they do Awareness Night - autism, breast cancer, etc. A lot of places ask players and coaches to wear colors. We do not allow our players to do this unless they make a donation.

Guys I am loving all of these ideas. We have never done anything like this. I am not sure my admin will allow but I want to find out. Curious how long your halftimes are? How does band share the field etc....?
If I go to my admin about something like this I would need a plan for making this possible.
On "military night" Do you parade military out to the field at halftime? Logistical concerns you guys have experienced etc...

Before the game, just like in the NFL, we will have everyone hold flags and have a captain carry the big flag. We are coordinating with the opposing coach, I've known him forever shouldn't be a problem, to have them do the same. At the end of the day, it's a game....these guys gave their lives, their freedom. At halftime, we recognize them by having them stand and be recognized right where they are sitting. We are inviting members of the opposing communities' VFW and active branches to come and attend as well.

I really don't follow what we do to much. I think homecoming is a giant distraction but that's me. I think the school does all the pink and stuff. I know Ruidoso HS in New Mexico does Military Appreciation Night they go the whole 9 yards for it. I like the camo jerseys with a different branch on the jerseys.

Sr. Night HC Old Timer Game- big cook out for anyone that played in the past.
We leave two open for things that come up. Last year recognized other programs that won state and a retiring coach of 35 years with former players.

For some reason I think Ruidoso can afford that lol. They have a WR who is a complete player imo great hands, good speed, and is physical. But then again anything supporting the men and women who serve I am a fan of.

We did...
Senior Night Pink Out Night Neon Night (wear neon) Homecoming Black Out Night
It just so happened that black out night fell when we were playing a team whose primary color is black, so it looked like everyone came out to support them.
Other schools I've been at have done Military Appreciation Night and School Administrator Appreciation Night.
I feel like a MS and Youth Appreciation Night would be great, but our state forbids us from recognizing youth teams who aren't directly affiliated with a school due to recruiting concerns.

Homecoming Parent Night Pink Out
I usually have the youth FB kids involved in a game at half time but that might be in conjunction with one of those listed above.

In Indiana, the National Guard has been going around "sponsoring" schools for a week. They basically just get to give out a bunch of promotional materials and set up a booth at the football or basketball game. Then they give the home team, generic Camouflage jerseys to wear for the night. Our basketball team did it this year and I have seen some of the local football teams do it as well.

But, sorry I dont know the exact details. Here is a link though with some schools wearing the jerseys www.dvidshub.net/image/783276/jersey-wars#.Uz4PXvldVvE
