I think there are some product drawbacks in terms of needing reapplication due to environmental effects and abrasion, but in the short term this stuff could pay big time dividends.... especially in those rain games.
What other ideas could this be used for?
Simply spraying down cleats to keep them cleaner.
Any pad or equipment that you may leave out that can become water logged.
equipment bags for rain games... no more garbage bags.
Base layer for coaching close can turn anything into rain gear.

Overall, it seems like a pretty cool product. I can think of many uses. (Mostly ones you thought of)I would be curious though to see how often you had to apply coats of the stuff to continually see results. That would be my only concern.

Yea, the reviews I have read basically sounded like the people were disappointed that it did not last longer... I am not sure if they thought it was a once or twice a year application or what... But as long as it would last through a game or practice I would be fine with it.

Having to apply 2-3 coats of paint to keep it going over the course of a season would get tedious and pricey. The thought of being dry during a rain game without having to wear a bunch of jackets or waders does seem worth it though.

Reading some consumer reviews, it is not a clear product. It leaves a silvery white haze on whatever it is sprayed on. Only lasts a few days. Dry for 1 rain game would be awesome....if we wore all white!!!!

Would it be legal to spray game footballs with this? I'm sure at some point during a downpour game, the officials are going to inquire about how our team's footballs are staying dry. Would probably be looked at as a competitive advantage...not that I wouldn't mind doing it.

We take a wire brush to our footballs and then put wax on them, but this might be a case of forgiveness over permission??

It does say that it will frost glass and such, but I don't think it is supposed to turn your items a different color if you apply the proper amount.
