Well, we got nipped 27-26 yesterday; first loss of the season for us. Came out flat, didn't do anything until the 2nd half, where we put up 26 unanswered points. The other team was solid; they played hard and were well coached. Unfortunately, this was a game we could have won had we been dialed in.
We wondered what the game was going to be like; we had a TERRIBLE week of practice.
We had a freshman/sophmore game on Tuesday; we played our best freshman plus the sophmores that don't get much j.v. time. Monday's practice was spent getting that together and getting the sophs and freshman on the same page as the freshman practice seperate from the sophs, jrs, and srs.
Tueday was the game; bus didn't get back in until 11pm- school the next day.
Wednesday was aweful; the kids were beat down tired from the game the night before. They weren't focused and were making a lot of mental mistakes. Just all around bad day.
Thursday was the only decent team practice we had all week; the kids were focused and appeared ready to go. Friday was a walk through.
We did what we could to get the kids dialed in during the week and on Saturday morning, but to no avail. We played a terrible 1st half and it cost us.
What do you guys do to keep everything together during these kinds of weeks?? I don't know if I totally missed something or if was just kind of an inevitability.

Nothing new here - focus on fundamentals, find the right balance between keeping them motivated and chewing their a$$. Try to keep having fun (Football is FUN, Winning is MORE FUN!) while still keeping them focused and hungry. Don't make this one loss hang around week after week. Bury it and move forward.
