I probably win every game, unless they got suspended.
People need to lay off Tank Johnson............I have unregistered guns [make a deal with a buddy, hey trade this .22 for your hunting light]. People made way too much of that. If he didn't play in the super bowl (and have to get special permission to play in it) 10 people would remember this story.

LOL, interesting philosphy it's not that big a deal because I do it. Only you are not a pro football player already dealing with some baggage who really could have done without the additional problems. Common sense says if you are already under the microscope don't do anything else to call attention to yourself.

I didn't say it was right because I did it. Where I'm from, having unregistered weapons is like breaking the speed limit on the freeway. Is it wrong? Legally, yes. Is it a big deal? No, not because everyone is doing it, but because it does not carry with it the weight of dire morality.
I thought, I could be wrong, that Tank Johnson had a clean record before this incident......you're right, football players need to be extra careful, because a simple thing like having unregistered guns can turn into Front Page Super Bowl Hype

First religion, then politics, and now gun play. Did we miss anything?

Also, wasn't the deal with Tank that his guns had been registered in the previous state in which he lived but just not in Illinois? In Illinois, you have to have a FOID (Firearm Owners Identification) card that has to be renewed every four years. I forgot to renew mine and it lapsed, so I had about a six-month period when my card wasn't valid. That doesn't exactly make me a hardened criminal!

I am so glad I live in a state which is not against guns. not that wisconsin is a liberal state when it comes to guns like say south dakota. however we are allowed to have class 3 licenses and we can own machine guns as long as we run it though the local sheriff and have proper paper work.
I know illinois is tough on guns but what other states are tough? I am thinking new york.
heck in wisconsin you can have loaded magazines sitting on the dash of you truck and as long as your gun is cased their is not a thing that can be done.

"Tough" is a relative term, even in Illinois. Where I live, (rural NW Illinois), there is a "gun culture". During hunting season, kids will have shotguns in their pick-up trucks and the local and even county police will seldom get in a twist over that. You might not want to get caught by a state trooper, but, generally speaking, firearms are just another tool as far as most NW Illinoisians are concerned. Now, you get closer to the city, like Cook County, Dupage, Lake, McHenry...when you have those suburban soccer moms who have been insulated against outdoor sports and despise hunters (they must think that the grilled chicken breast they get at McDonald's grew on a tree), well, that's when you are going to have trouble. You'd fit in pretty well out here, airman. Lots of people with pretty similar views. Remember, Illinois is only blue because of Chicago. You take Chicago out of the state, Illinois would be more crimson than Alabama on a fall Saturday!

illinois has one of the finest gun dealers in the nations. R Guns out of carpenterville il is a great place to visit. they are sort of close to cook.
not to mention they have a all nude girls with guns calander. you know the kind of calander those of use who were youngans in the 1970s and 1980s saw at the local filling station. they also have a nice selection of firearms as well.
I have family in rockford area and I have family in lake county. I have visited them both and there does seem to have a different feel to it.
I have been to dixon il whcih is sort fo in your neck of the woods i think. all I know is there is not much difference between Il and wi in the northwest corner. they take their hunitng really serious down by platteville.

How did this get to be about guns? well we have covered most topics so why not cover guns. lets me guess, you do not like them? No, on the contrary, I love guns. I grew up shooting targets, tutored by my dad who shot pistols on the target shooting team in the Army. Nowhere near as good as him but I can hit black. I used to read his NRA magazines growing up. In elementary school I did a project on handguns. Of course that was back when you could mention "gun" in school. Shoot they even let me bring fired casings and a disassemlbed .45 pistol to class for the display (which was monitored the entire time closely by my dad to make sure no one stole it). Think I could do that now? I just wondered how we got so far off topic. However it is cool.

Hmmm,1.- lots of fights at practice, in games, on the sidelines during games, and with fans while leaving the game, lol #2.- teams moral would probably plummet but it wouldn't bother most of these guys since they are "the greatest". #3.- Coaches and other players would "never" have to worry about talking to the press anymore, lots of good public speakers in this group, lol #4.- Might have to institute a strip search policy for players and any entourage entering your facilities. #5.- Coaching staff and the other players, may have to think about taking a minimum wage job at a fast food chain, since there won't be much money left to pay them, you know, just part time though, in the off season or on your days off during the reg. season, lol!

You guys wanna see a gun culture, come on out to MT. We take our 2nd Amendment rights seriously, we carry guns and start militias. And by militia, I mean heavily armed vigilante groups comprised of people sleep with their cousins. I felt bad for Tank, poor SOB was treated like a terrorist for owning a few guns. Around here- -if you don't own a gun- you're not in Kansas anymore Toto. -if you own 1 gun- you're a dirty hippy -if you own 2 guns-you're a not-quite-so dirty hippy. -if you own 3 guns- you're sociallly acceptable

And none of thse guns had better shoot rounds smaller than .306. A .22 rifle is nothing more than an expensive BB gun.
