Fellas -
I am in the process of putting together a clinic talk about No Huddle Procedures and Communication. I would like to have a good overview of a number of different systems. If you could, please discribe your procedures and how you communicate your calls (i.e. singal to everyone, just the skill, wristbands). Let me know what is the best system that you have seen.
Thanks
This is what I made up the past couple of weeks...
We have basically two offensive schemes, a "normal" offense like basic one and two back sets (Ace/Deuce/Rip/Liz) in which we will huddle up and then signal the play by one number...those all go on one wristband...our kids have two wristbands: one for this and one for what is to follow
Our singlewing type offense:
X.T.T.G.C.G.Y
Z......F....................
............Q.................T
We have 6 different motions (orbital motion, in motion going infront of the QB and in motion going behind the QB)
called ZORB/TORB, ZIF/TIF, ZIB/TIB
we have a few formations out of this scheme:
1) what is shown above (called "odd box")
2) what is shown above with the F to the immediate left of the QB
3) the above with "T" lined up to the left creating a diamond-like formation
4) The above with the RG to the left next to the LG
We will signal to the QB three numbers which he will just yell out to the whole offense:
-The first will be the formation
-The second will be the motion (we use lots of window-dressing so pretty much an motion can be used even if it has nothing to do with the play, for example having T go in orbital motion and having the QB run a dive to the left, no reason for it but we do it anyways)
-The third will be the play
So the offensive players' wristbands will look like:
Formation1) ODD BOX (shown above)
2) ODD BOX F BACK (f next to the QB)
3) ODD BOX T OVER (diamond)
4) ODD BOX HEAVY (rg to the left)
5) EVEN BOX
6) EVEN BOX F BACK
7) EVEN BOX T OVER
8) EVEN BOX HEAVY
Motion1) ZORB
2) ZIF
3) ZIB
4) TORB
5) TIF
6) TIB
Play1) Q1 (q-dive to the 1 hole)
2) Q3 (q-dive to the 3 hole)
3) Q5
4) Q7
5) QXSweep (keeper to the outside of X's side)
6) Q2
7) QYSweep (keeper to the outside of Y's side)
8) T1
9) T3
10) T5
11) T7
13) TXSWEEP
14) TXOption (option to X's side)
(etc, lots of plays)
I read on here some good hand signals...
-using your pointer finger up would be "1" obviously
-using your pointer finger down would be "2"
-using two fingers up would be "2"
-using two fingers down would be "3"
-using three fingers up would be "3"
-using three fingers down would be "4"
-using four fingers up would be "4"
(etc)
when you get to two-digit numbers, you can do the same thing...for example "23" could be:
-right hand with one finger pointing down
-left hand with three fingers up
OR
-right hand with one finger pointing down
-left hand with two fingers down
So say I wanted to run a TXSWEEP (its a jet sweep essentially):
I could signal in "2" "5" "13" based on what I have about
The first is the formation (ODD BOX F BACK)
Second in the motion (TiF)
Third is the play (TXSWEEP)
For window dressing purposes, I could call a Q1 dive like this...
"3" "1" "1"
You can use pretty much any motion with this play...
As you can see the possibilities are almost endless with what you can do. I think its obvious, but I'll state it anyways, you can't number plays on the wristband that have a 7, 8, or 9 in it...just like in non-pro basketball...
1-16, 20-26, 30-36, 40-46, 50-56, 60-66 that's over 50 plays right there. With this system, its impossible to signal 7-9. You can signal "6" with five fingers down...
