Did they have facemasks??? They did and I remember watching the game and thinking "I have not heard anyone speak of concussions" - they also had this weird wide receiver who lined up tight, they called him "tight end" I think.

Got in to a version of the Emory and Henry to run some offense several years ago and didn't look back, made it a full time package in the offense. Ran midline, QB follow, jet sweep, trap, now screen and middle screen out of it. Our base was flexbone.
.....................X....T........................G...C...G...........................T....Y .........................A...............................Q.................................Z ..........................................................B
A few years later we added wristbands and used colors and numbers to do sort of a no huddle NASCAR type version of it. Worked pretty good!

Come to think of it I used ol' Gus Malzahn's 4-3 3 man line stuff to discourage and beat a pretty good spread team a few years ago:
.....................................................H....Q ...................................................................................................... .................................Z....................................................F ................Y.................................T...G...C...G...T..................................X ..................................................S.........T........E .............................................................N ................C.......................B..................M....................W......................C ...................................$..................................................F
Ran a bunch of stunts and 3x3 zone blitzes out of that look. Did fairly well confusing a pretty good OL.

It's the rule that says the quarter can end on an offensive penalty. Penalties on the offense do not stop the clock, providing the previous play was tackled in bounds and the clock remains running, otherwise offenses would just jump off sides, to stop the clock late in games. That's why you don't take the delay of game - that stops the clock. The WR lined up and was looking at me, I nodded, he took 2 steps, official blows the whistle, I say "D@MMIT JAMAR!!" He looked at me with the biggest smile. lol. Hey man...sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. To really disguise it, have a call/signal that tells the team you're lining up to "freeze" call your cadence and have a designated lineman jump on the 2nd hut.

One year we had a small but very good team. For some reason we could not find someone that was willing to play football that could kick extra-points or field goals. We decided that we would go for two the whole season and not practice extra-points. It ended up paying off. We were really good on offense and made 75% of our conversions. Of course though, lost 2 games that year both by one point so we heard a number of complaints about how stupid we were to go for 2 every time. The ironic thing is in both our one point losses going for 2 actually helped us more than it hurt us. We loss 23-22. We scored 3 TD and made 2 conversions. We lost 31-30. We scored 4 tds and made 3 conversions.

Those games you mentioned, whoever complained about not kicking is a moron. If you kicked everytime and made 100% of them you would have scored even less and still lost. I was not party to the game, BUT Middle of the pack team playing the top dog on side kicked every time. MP team had a great offense with dynamic player ay QB, but a below average defense. TD team had a phenomenal offense and a sub par defense.
Both teams gave up lots of points in the season, but scored like crazy too.
Plan worked for the MP team until they had TOs in the red zone.

We don't kick PAT for our JV team. No point. We miss half the time anyway. We just line up and run plays. Just like stated above, 50% on 2 breaks even. And no practice time for PAT/FG.

I ran a whole season early in my career from the lonesome polecat. Has some of the swinging gate thought process. Weather made it tough to do at times so I did a 180 to Double Wing.

I started kids that actually earned it rather than those with "potential" who didn't earn a thing.

This past year was my first of modified, and our 2nd to last game we played a team who plays EXCLUSIVELY with 2 QBs under center. What I mean is they line each QB up straddling the centers leg, and they'll often run between center and opposite guard using the QB who didnt take the snap as lead blocker. We were able to contain it for the most part run wise, though their pass game hurt us.

I don't know if this counts or not, but I don't think anyone has ever seen anything like the end to the Iron Bowl last night...
Most unconventional thing I've seen would be an offensive tackle throwing a TD pass...

HS coaches who play under NFHS rules will never see it done.
Once a kick enters the End Zone, it's dead ball, not returnable.

We lined up 2 punters this year. 1 left footed 1 right footed with the ability to rugby each way.

Really worked well for us. Didn't give up a big return all year, rugbying allowed us to get coverage down field and the ability to go either way didn't allow teams to over load a side and come after us. Had a few fakes built in as well.
Really it developed 1 night out of sitting around watching a few kids kick the ball around. I noticed those were our best 2 legs and happened to be opposite footed. Our Oc said what if you put both back there? And from there "special punt" was born!

Last year we played a team that kicked a field goal from their own 10 instead of punt. It went out at their own 20...

Saw a TD return on a missed field goal with a perfectly executed wall

Last game of the season lost my punter the week before, but I had a great kicker that could drain 50 yard field goals. So the final game we didn't punt we would line up in PAT field goal and kick it. I told him not to kick to them aim out of bounce about 45 yards down field and it work great. It was funny there coach had told them to be ready because we would go for 50 yard field goals and the first time we line up we were on are on 20 and there players couldn't believe we were going for a field goal and none of them drop back ended up to be a monster kick punt.

I thought about using my Field goal unit as my punt team this year when my first punter went down and my second punter was really good at kicking low line drives to talented return men. What scared me about it was A. getting it blocked (extra points getting blocked don't go for scores, FG's do) B. Covering it if my guy didn't kick it out of bounds. If you can for sure aim it out of bounds it is money though.
