Hey Guys... We are looking to buy a new set of Headsets and I was wondering if you guys could tell me anything to help us out with making our decision?
Looking for a few things: 1).....Price 2).....Reliability - Don't want them NOT working more than ARE working 3).....Networking - Some systems are a pain to try and communicate due to most of the headsets only being able to talk to one person (basically turning one of our coaches into an operator and not a coach)
Thanks a lot guys

I really liked the CoachComm headsets we got this year although every now and then they acted up and a coach couldn't be heard so well. They were fairly affordable, you can add to the system, you can talk to everyone or branch off into O and D and the battery kept its power and charged quickly.

We've tried two different sets, and had problems with both. They were sappossed to be top of the line but.........

It seems Telex is the top-of-the-line brand. We haven't heard of a staff who was disappointed with them. I've noticed on many NFL sidelines they have Telex receivers on their hips -- even though Motorola, through a marketing agreement, has their name in large print on the visable headsets. Of course, the receivers are the true brains of these systems.
CoachComm units usually get fairly good reviews on this site.
Stay far away from PortaPhones. We have these pieces of garbage. We spend about $1,000 every year on maintenance and they only work about half the time.

Damn, I tought I was the only one having problems with porta phones. They used to be reliable at first but we keep sending them to maintenance and they still go down. I am really fed up with them & I am buying some new headsets for next season ; we are not going back with porta phones; that's for sure.
